I have been in Lagos since last Monday. I came to Lagos for the press launch of my new book Bye, Bye Mugabe, but after going through the printed copies of the book, I discovered many typos. The editor and publisher never corrected them after I noted them in the final edited copy she sent to me before publication. Therefore, I have decided to postpone the press launch and dismiss my Nigerian editor and publisher.

Lagos Palaver

Inih, I Love You
Inih, O Inih
I love you.
Inin, O Inih
I love you.
Inih
I have been waiting for so long
To sing you this love song
You are my princess and my queen
With more beauty within than can be seen.
You are beautiful to behold
You are more precious than gold.
I have been searching for true love
And I thank God I have found you
You are my dream come true.
Inih
O Inih
I love you.
Inih
O Inih
I love you
Inih
O Inih
I love you.
N.B:
Celebrate the love of life and the gift of Love that the Almighty God has given you to share.
These are the original lyrics of my original love song for my sweetest.
I sang the first verse to her when I called her Sunday night.
The Celebration olf Life
It was an idyllic Sunday on Bonny Island in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
I had a beautiful and wonderful time at the Thanksgiving fellowship in church today.
Our guests, visitors and members of the Assemblies of God Church in Finima celebrated and jubilated in praise of the Almighty God Jehovah to thank Him for saving the precious life of my younger sister, Mrs. Stella Unah. I was moved to join her and her husband in front of the church to thank the ministers of God and the entire congregation for fasting and praying for her healing and speedy recovery. Then I sang the introit of my song Your Majesty in my mother-tongue, Igbo. It was awesome in the solemn worship of the Almighty God Jehovah and the Holy Spirit filled the body of Christ. Reverend Odey from the Assemblies of God Church in Ibadan told us how he had to abide in the divine presence of God in the state of nature and God answered his prayer by saving the life of my sister. He said our celebration has begun and we all rejoiced in appreciation of the goodness and mercy and loving kindness of God.
Our life should be the daily celebration of the infinite grace of God in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Actress, Author Mariel Hemingway & Travelers Advantage Say: Travel Smart, Save Money
NORWALK, Conn., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Most people are tightening their belt on spending this year. But that doesn't have to mean cutting out travel. With planning and creativity, you can still find great travel deals and have a wonderful vacation.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20071212/NYWFNS2 )
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070717/NYTUFNS1LOGO-b )

"If you travel to mountain resorts in the summer -- places such as Aspen, Jackson Hole or Sun Valley -- you get more for your money because there is so much to do," says actress and author Mariel Hemingway. "The outdoor activities are either free or much less expensive than what you'd spend at a tropical resort."
Despite spiraling gas prices and the flagging economy, people will continue to travel this summer. In fact, according to a recent survey conducted by the Travel Industry Association, six of 10 Americans will not change their travel plans even with additional increases in gas prices. Also, one of six receiving a tax rebate from Congress will use that money to pay for travel and vacations.
"Everybody wants a break from the bad news economy and the pump pressure, and a vacation, quite literally, is a way to get away from it all," said Leslie Downey, director of communication for Travelers Advantage and TravelersAdvantage.com. "As we sail into the summer vacation season, there are great travel and savings deals for even the most cost-conscious vacationer."
Here are some other money-saving tips from the experts at Travelers Advantage:
-- Get the most for your money when you drive. You can make fill-ups go farther and cars last longer by maintaining proper tire inflation, performing routine maintenance on a regular basis, avoiding driving during the hottest part of the day and using a dashboard window sun cover.
-- Plan a biking or camping vacation. This is a great way to save money and keep fit, all at the same time. Did you know most people who visit state parks say they were very satisfied with the excursion? And camping is still the number one outdoor vacation activity.
-- If you're flying, buy your ticket between midnight and 1 a.m., just after airline agents have loaded new fares into their computers. Remember, the cheapest flights tend to be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. And if you're willing to fly late at night or early in the morning, you may get lower fares.
-- If you go on a cruise, don't visit the onboard shops until right before the trip ends -- that's when they often discount the items on sale. You can also skip paying for shore excursions, and simply visit the port city on your own or by bus.
For additional savings on summer travel, the experts at Travelers Advantage offer these great vacation deals:
Soak up a Virgin Islands Sizzlin' Summer Sampler, and experience endless stretches of powder perfect beach edged by azure water, lush tropics and more. Enjoy exotic 5-night vacations to St. Croix, St. John or St. Thomas. You can book through July 31 for travel through Aug. 15. All resorts include a $50 Visa gift card, attraction coupons and resort credits ranging from $50 to $100.*
Cruise into some great last-minute deals to the Bahamas, Caribbean and Mexico during the month of June. Three-night Bahamas cruises aboard the Carnival Fascination, departing from Miami, Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas, departing from Miami, or Disney Wonder, departing from Port Canaveral, Fla., are available from $289 to $639. Seven-night Caribbean cruises aboard the Carnival Valor, Carnival Destiny and Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas, all departing from Miami, range in price from $559 to $1,099. Mexico cruises -- from four to seven nights aboard the Carnival Paradise, Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas or Disney Magic, all departing from Los Angeles -- range in price from $379 to $1,505.**

Hall of Fame Baseball Legend Mike Schmidt Speaks Out for the First Time About Common Health Problem in Older Men
Beware of the Seven Laws of Harvest: The Consequences of Your Actions
There are indeed seven laws of harvest in the following order:
1. We Reap Only What Has Been Sown
2. We Reap the Same In Kind As We Sow
3. We Reap in a Different Season than We Sow
4. We Reap More Than We Sow
5. We Reap In Proportion to What We Sow
6. We Reap the Full Harvest Of the Good Only if We Persevere
7. We Can't do Anything About Last Year's Harvest, But We Can About This Year's
Sow a thought, reap an act;
Sow an act, reap a habit;
Sow a habit, reap a character;
Sow a character, reap a destiny.
You can read The Seven Laws of the Harvest for more details.
I can still remember my grandmother warning me about my choices in life. In her attempt to see that her grandson would behave himself, she used to say, “Don’t forget, Hampton, you always reap what you sow … always.” And of course, she was right. But when most of us think of the concept of reaping what we sow, I have found we usually think of this in the negative sense. We think of paying the consequences for sinful actions or foolish choices, but the laws of the harvest are not just negative. These laws are also positive, very positive, and stand as a promise of blessing for sowing that which is good as well as a warning against sowing what is bad. We see this in Galatians 6:7-8.
~ J. Hampton Keathley, III , Th.M. (Bio)
Hampton Keathley, III, is right. Let me address it in details, because the ignorance of these laws is destroying people daily.
It is the devil that will lie to you that ignorance is bliss.
The truth is ignorance is not bliss, because ignorance kills.
The truth may be bitter or sour, but the truth heals.
The ignorance of the truth on the facts of the Weapons of Mass Destruction misled the U.S. Government into the catastrophic war in Iraq. See the records of the bloody consequences on Heroes of the War On Terror.
Ignorance begets disobedience and disobedience begets violence and violence begets death.
Ignorance leads people to disobedience and their disobedience provokes the wrath of the earth and the wrath of the earth causes violence and violence has led to the death of countless people since Adam and Eve to date.
Ignorance of the Law of Harvest is the cause of the horrors and the terrors of life and the tragedies of the crimes, evils and sins plaguing humans and have left millions of people dead, millions still dying and millions still suffering the consequences of their own actions and the actions of others.
There is always a reaction to every action, but it might not be visible as you would see or think.
You have to beware of the grave consequences of your negative actions, because of the repercussions.
If you say or do negative things, you will surely get negative things in return eventually.
If you say or do positive things, you will surely get positive things in return eventually.
Someone insulted me in a reply to one of my posts online, and my reply was to quote from the Law of Harvest for his own good.
That if you reply with an insult, insult will plague you all your life.
It was a warning to him to stop insulting people, especially strangers you do not know or have never met in person.
Insulting or swearing at others has brought visible and invisible curses in return.
The Law of Harvest is worse for those who repay good with evil.
For example, you have the best wishes for someone and you are doing good and the best for the progress and succcess of that person, but the same person goes behind you to backbite, backstab and plot to do you harm or evil and in fact commits sin or evil against you. Then instead of repenting and asking for mercy and forgiveness, the wrong doer or evil doer is adamant and unrepentant. He or she would receive the grave consequences of the grievous actions.
If God will judge every idle word
How much more would His wrath be against every evil deed.
~ Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima
The more I feel sorry for many humans I know are now facing and suffering the negative consequences of their actions and the actions of their parents and ancestors, the more I pray and wish that they would listen and learn and repent, and be saved, but in most cases these humans have failed to listen and learn from the horrible and terrible mistakes of others.
As they are repeating these negative mistakes of others, the negative consequences are repeated again and again.
Nigeria is one of the richest countries in human and mineral resources on earth, but Nigeria is among the poorest nations in the world, because of the daily violations of the Seven Laws of Harvest by ignorant and disobedient Nigerians.
The simple solution is for everyone on earth to learn and apply the Seven Laws of Harvest in everything we say and everything we do, and we shall be delivered, redeemed and saved from the ignorance and disobedience of the Seven Laws of Harvest.
May God help you and I to repent and do good to ourselves and unto others.

Loving Your Enemies
Thursday, June 19, 2008
1. Loving Your Enemies
"But I [Jesus] say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you."1
Bob Lewis relates the story of a Christian woman "who owned two prize-winning chickens. One afternoon, the chickens worked their way out of her yard and into her neighbor's garden. The neighbor, known for his hot temper, captured both birds, wrung their necks and then threw their lifeless carcasses across the fence into the Christian's yard.
"The woman was understandably hurt and considered giving her neighbor a piece of her mind. Instead, she took the chickens home and prepared two chicken pot pies. Whereupon she took one to her neighbor and then apologized for not being more watchful of her chickens. The man was speechless. The chicken pot pie coupled with an apology filled him with such a sense of burning shame that his whole life began to change."
Need I say more?
Suggested prayer: "Dear God, I find it real easy to love those who are lovable but don't know how to love my enemies and those who would mistreat me. Please help me to grow in love so that I will always be 'as Christ' to everyone—friend or foe. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."

The Translator Arrived Today
I write this also for the women and girls of Darfur.
Random House sent me the hardcover copy of Daoud Hari's bestselling memoir on the Darfur Crisis The Translator and I loved the quality of the printing from cover to cover and I am reading it like I am making love to my sweetheart.
I love what Daoud Hari wrote in honor of the girls and women of Darfur.
You have seen their faces wrapped in beautiful colors, and you know something of their suffering, but they are not who you think. Though they have been victimized, they are heroes more than victims. My aunt Joyar, for example, was a famous warrior who dressed like a man, fought camel thieves and Arab armies, wrestled men for sport--and always won. She refused to marry until she was in her forties.
I dedicate this to her and to the girls of my village who were faster and stronger than the boys at our rough childhood games. I dedicate this to my mother, who as a young woman kept a circle of attacking lions away from
our cattle and sheep in the bush for a long day, a long night and all the next morning, using only the power of her voice and the banging of two sticks. The power of her voice is something I know very well.
The beautiful prose of the author makes his memoir very exciting and thrilling to read, even though his memories are also true life chronicles of the atrocities of the ruthless Sudanese military and the heartless Janjaweed, the perpetrators of the horrors of the genocide in his homeland.
If you really care about the plight of the refugees who are still suffering and dying in Darfur, you should read this book.

Six Degrees of Paris Hilton: The Global Reach of One Vagina
"Pick any random person, and if you dig hard enough you'll find
that they had sex with somebody, who had sex with somebody, who had sex with
Paris."
It is a long sex chain with even links to Osama bin Laden. The sex chain could have linked to Nigeria if the writer continued to follow it.
It is a must read for anyone who has not read it.
Some women can really spread their legs far and wide.
Do you know the sex chain of your girlfriend or wife?
That is actually how STDs and the deadly AIDS have been spread from one vagina to another.
May God save us all before it is too late.
Kim de la Crème

I find Kim Kardashian more beautiful and attractive without make up.
God created Kim Kardashian beautiful and wonderful, but she has found herself among the dumbest sex symbols in Hollywood, because the desperation for fame and fortune pushed her into wrong hands. The wrong hands of the African-American rapper Ray J who even taped himself pissing on Kim Kardashian! The same 27 years old Ray J boasted to spite Bobby Brown in a song that it was cool to have sex with the 44 years old Whitney Houston, but it was better pulling her hair whilst having sex with her! Whitney had to scream "Shut Up about us!" to save her career from further damage in view of the launch of her new album in November 2008.
Pop Crunch has a detailed biography of Kim Kardashian who is doing her best to focus on her modeling career and forthcoming film. Here is the audio of Kim telling Ray J that she has had enough of sexual abuse.
Kim posing for her new modeling contract.
How would a man feel if his sister is being taken for a ride by shameless and ruthless boys or men who take turns on her?
How would a man having sex with the wife of another man feel if he found his own wife having sex with another man?
Why should a grown up girl or woman be so dumb to sell herself for sex?
Of course, millions of girls and women all over the world prefer to fool themselves in self-denial and say that they are not prostitutes or call-girls, but once you are going out with a man or a woman, because of what you would gain in cash or kind, you are also engaged in prostitution, no matter how much you are posing and posturing as a "girlfriend" or "mistress".
Dating one man, because of the financial and other material benefits is bad, but dating several men for the same selfish want of money and social status symbols is worse and that makes you a prostitute.
Let us call a spade a spade, so that she would realize the wrong she has done and repent than flattering her and overlooking her wayward life style.

Internet Clones
I cancelled my account on MySpace, because many members were using it to stalk me. I have refused all the invitations to join Facebook, because I do not need it and most people on it are just copycats.
Most of the sites showing my pen name or real name got them by default.
Most of them use the same online trap asking you to sign up first before you can comment on what you have seen or read on their websites. Once you oblige, they add your username or real name to their membership list and use you to increase the popularity of their sites and for salesmanship or "saleswomanship".
I recently deleted all my contacts on an e-mail account and very soon I am going to delete all the other contacts and cancel more accounts, because I want to get rid of all the clones.
There are more Internet Clones than humans or as I prefer to call them Homo sapiens. These clones are like fringe elements out of Duke Nukem 3D.
I have left a couple of popular forums, because of these Internet Clones.
Honesty is a scarce commodity online and these Internet Clones are as bad as the notorious Nigerian Yahoo-Yahooo Internet scammers who use different aliases to con unsuspecting targets online. I see them as devils perpetrating evils online.
These creatures do not even have the fear of God, because they swear and lie shamelessly in their desperate schemes, scams and whims.
A member of a forum creates many clones under different aliases or IDs and is using them for posing and posturing as real persons. He or she is appearing as AJ Naija on a post and then reappears as Naija Ninja on another post posing and posturing as a different person. What a scam!
I cannot converse with such Internet Clones or Internet Zombies, because I have zero tolerance for liars, cheats and scammers. In fact, the rest of humankind would be better and safer without these scum of the earth.
I cannot tolerate people without scruples.
It is good to be yourself and be honest and transparent.
One alias or moniker should be enough when you are on an online forum or social network and not creating Internet Clones to scam other humans online.
Human dignity and integrity should guide your life online and offline.
Do some critical thinking, because ratiocination helps.
Have a nice day!

Award-Winning Singer-Songwriter Christine Evans Is Now Shooting Her Debut Film Role, the Female Lead In An Independent Feature, in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, June 16 /PRNewswire/ --
Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Christine Evans is currently shooting an independent feature film under the working title of Black And Blue in Los Angeles, California. Evans has the starring role of Amber in the production, which marks her debut big-screen role as she crosses over to the film world to build an acting career parallel to her life in music.

An early 2009 release is anticipated for the film, which is produced by Tim Swain and directed by Jill Maxcy from a script by Liz Maccie. A gritty coming-of-age story with a strong musical thread guiding its narrative, Black And Blue blends the darkness of Thirteen with the transcendent hopefulness of Once.
The film centers on the story of Evans' character Amber, a teenager from a troubled home in Tucson -- her mother is struggling with drugs and suicide attempts. Amber is sent to Los Angeles to live with her uncle, but finds that atmosphere equally destructive. With nowhere else to turn, she goes out on the streets of downtown L.A., and forges a bond with four other homeless kids living in an abandoned warehouse.
Amber and her friends play music together and busk for change on a city promenade. She discovers an old-school record store near the promenade run by Billy, a veteran blues guitarist now in his sixties. As a result of his own personal turmoil, Billy has been hiding out for decades, but a connection with Amber draws him out. He helps her with her music, becomes a mentor, and steers her and her friends towards a better future in a turn of events that proves redemptive for all.
As a music artist, Christine Evans first emerged during her early teen years from the thriving Vancouver Island scene that's also produced Nelly Furtado and Diana Krall. Evans won Album of the Year for her second CD Push at Vancouver's 2007 Island Music Awards and Best Video at the Gospel Music Association of Canada's 2007 Covenant Awards for the edgy video for "Push." A rising star in contemporary Christian music, Evans co-produced the album with veteran producer Tom Hall, and scored a Canadian #1 Christian radio hit with "Break Me."
Christine Evans is represented in the U.S. by Showdown Management, whose clients include the breakout band Paramore. Her latest recording, the alt-rock skewed EP Standing On The Edge, was just released in Canada and was produced by multi-Dove Award winner Matt Bronleewe (Natalie Imbruglia, Jars of Clay, Michael W. Smith).
Christine Evans still makes her home near Victoria, B.C.

Don't Let the Credit Crunch Harm Your Relationship - Keep Taking the Weekend Break
LONDON, June 16/PRNewswire/ -- As part of its 'Campaign for the Real Weekend' a nationally representative survey commissioned by purplehotels and carried out by BMRB* has revealed fascinating statistics about 'weekend break ' habits amongst people in the UK.
Sex - or an increase in intimacy- was cited as a critical reason to take a weekend break by 38% of males and females questioned. Of which 44% of the 25/34-year age group strongly agreed a weekend away would improve the intimacy of their relationship with their partner.
Psychologist and "sex expert" Donna Dawson, says: "Work, in particular, appears to be stressing us out, as well as affecting our close relationships. A complete change of scenery appears to be the remedy for 'revving up' our jaded or non-existent sex lives, by injecting novelty, adventure and much-needed privacy into the proceedings."
A 'loved-up' weekend away also has a marked effect on returning home. Some 45% of women and 39% of men claimed it made them 'feel more able to cope with life' but 37% of respondents 'immediately yearned for another break' (For some, once wasn't enough!)
When asked 'How long after your return does the good feeling last?' 41% felt the 'benefits lasted a few days' whilst 20% of men declared ecstatically the 'good feeling lasted for at least a week'. Interestingly, 30% of men mentioned a great breakfast, the morning after, 'could be a deciding factor when choosing a hotel.'
Purplehotels questioned the need to escape from the stress of life to which the great majority of people (74%) revealed they hoped to grab a "chance to relax", 58% felt a break away would enable them "to feel better about work, life and family" whilst over a third (35%) of people wanted to "learn something new about a different part of Britain".
Understandably 76% of people cited 'value for money' as the most important factor when choosing a hotel; this was followed by 'convenience of location (52%) and friendly staff (38%) as the second and third important factors respectively.
35% of people plan to spend between GBP50 and GBP100 on accommodation for a weekend away, while 26% are prepared to spend over GBP100 and up to GBP150. This fits in well with the great value weekend breaks in purplehotels, which start from GBP29 per room. Guests are encouraged to feel as relaxed or raring- to- go as their hearts desire.
Purplehotels have launched a 'Campaign for the Real Weekend' to promote 'weekends not workends'.
Mike Prager, CEO explains: "Who says the weekend should be limited to Saturday and Sunday? At purplehotels we believe that the weekend is any time between Thursday & Monday & we price it that way too. My final tip is try calling in well to work. Most people at some time call in sick. Call in well and say 'I'm having a couple of days off and I feel great'. Then take off and visit this lovely island of ours!"
*The Survey was commissioned by purplehotels and carried out by BMRB via online Omnibus across 1,000 adults aged 16-64.
Purplehotels is a new 'no frills chic' brand of premium budget hotels with 11 hotels in the UK. Visit http://www.purplehotels.co.uk for further information about the Campaign for the Real Weekend.

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."1
One day a man comes home from work to find total mayhem at home. The kids were outside still in their pajamas playing in the mud and muck. There were empty food boxes and wrappers all around. As he proceeded into the house, he found an even bigger mess. Dishes on the counter, dog food spilled on the floor, a broken glass under the table, and a small pile of sand by the back door. The family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing, and a lamp had been knocked over.He headed up the stairs, stepping over toys, to look for his wife. He was becoming worried that she may be ill, or that something had happened to her. He found her in the bedroom, still in bed with her pajamas on, reading a book.
She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?"
She again smiled and answered, "You know, everyday when you come home from work and ask me what I did today?"
"Yes," was his reply.
She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it!"
Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please help me regardless of my marital state to love and appreciate my spouse and/or family members as you would have me love and appreciate them and, with your help, always be as Christ to them. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus' name. Amen."

McCain: "The Rights of the Unborn Are As Important as the Rights of the Born."
US Senator John McCain has made what I call a universal declaration for the human rights of the unborn child and to question the abortion of the unborn child.
Pope Benedict XVI would be glad to endorse John McCain for his defence of the right of the unborn child to live! I hope the Vatican and all anti-abortion groups will commend him for speaking in the voice of the conscience.
My Father’s Violin

My Father’s Violin
My father was born on a Sunday and I was born on a Sunday, and so my dear father concluded that we were from the same place. He always wanted me to accompany him whenever he visited his friends or went shopping. He was fond of noting our physical similarities from our fair complexion to our aquiline nose. He was psychic and a metaphysician and said we came from the water.
“God forbid,” I said in my heart.
He said I was an Aquarian, but I did not share his superstitious belief in astrology. I have always been a Christian from childhood, and I thank God for giving me a wonderful mother who brought me up on the Word of God from her copy of the Holy Bible in Igbo, our mother tongue. I loved the man from Galilee, Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God. I always loved to play Jesus and even had my own disciples who joined me to sweep and clean the pews of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Lafiaji on the Lagos Island. I was going to be a priest until my father refused to let me go to the seminary in Ibadan. Since he did not allow me to become a priest, I decided that I would be a rock star and joined the Daily Mirror Pop & Rock Club. I thought my father would be glad to see me sing, rock and roll since he loved music and played the violin. But he sneered at rock music and would rather serenade to the music of his violin after work.
I did not like the way the violin whined like one of the Sirens.
My father would embrace his violin the way he embraced my mother, holding the neck with his left hand and resting his narrow jaw on the chinrest and the scroll tilted horizontally above his left shoulder, he would put the rosined bow between the bridge and the fingerboard. Then he would pull the bow back and forth the four strings one after the other to make the whining sounds of the different scales of the music. My mother loved to gaze at him as he played and paused to sing his own songs. He had a melodious voice and always looked heavenly whilst playing his violin. He never allowed me and his other children to touch it. I never asked him to teach me, because I preferred to learn how to play the acoustic or electric guitar and join the Bay City Rollers, Adam Ant and the other rockers in the UK.
I was 18 when I got my first recording contract to produce my country rock song Hardway to Broadway, but my father waved the contract aside and did not even ask me about it again. He never wanted me to travel to England or America for my music. The recording date passed and I was disappointed. Since he ignored my own passion for Pop music, I ignored his passion for the violin and classical music. We disagreed over his religious beliefs and in one of his angry moods, he hit me with the bow of his violin and it broke into two pieces. He was heart broken and did not bother to buy a new bow. He left the violin where he always hung it on the wall and never played his violin until he passed away on November 19, 1983. I put the violin away and it was accidentally damaged. It was now a useless musical instrument. A year after my father’s death, I produced Hardway To Broadway. I was still thinking of becoming a young rock star when I left the Roman Catholic Church for the Deeper Christian Life Bible Church and became a street and bus evangelist.
It was in the Deeper Christian Life Bible Church that I saw the importance of the violin, because many members of the choir played violins and made heavenly sound of music to the glory of God. Every time I listened to the solemn music of the violin, the unforgettable memories of my dear father playing his violin would hold me captive in nostalgia. I cannot remember the past without remembering my dear father and I cannot remember my dear father without remembering his violin. I am going to buy a new violin and put it on the mantle piece in memory of my father. I am also going to produce my first classical composition Your Majesty and an old man playing the violin will be included in the musical video to share the memory of my father’s violin with the world.

56-year-old North Dakota Native Wins AARP The Magazine's National Spelling Bee for 'Word Nerds' Age 50+
CHEYENNE, Wyo., June 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --
AARP The Magazine, the definitive voice for 50+ Americans and the world's largest-circulation magazine with more than 34 million readers, today crowned Larry Grossman, age 56, of Northwood, N.D., the winner of AARP The Magazine's National Spelling Bee for people age 50+. Grossman won the championship by correctly spelling DEBOUCH.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070209/NYF043LOGO )
Held earlier today at the Little America Hotel and Resort in Cheyenne, Wyo., 49 competitors ages 51 to 75 from 24 states competed in AARP The Magazine's National Spelling Bee. Grossman walked away with $500 in prizes. Michael Petrina, Jr., from Arlington, Va., finished in second place ahead of Scott Firebaugh from Knoxville, Tenn., who finished third. A complete list of results can be found online along with video footage of the competition at www.aarp.org/spellingbee.
"We're thrilled that so many people from across the country came out for this year's competition and want to congratulate Larry for coming out ahead of the pack," said Steve Slon, editor of AARP The Magazine. "Our Spelling Bee has continued to grow in popularity since it was introduced by AARP members 13 years ago and the cognitive and social benefits of exercising your mind as you age make all of today's participants winners."
In the AARP The Magazine-sponsored bee, the 50+ aged spellers were allowed to miss three words before being knocked out of the competition. The day began with a 100-word written competition, narrowing the field to the top 16, who went on to compete in the oral spelling finals.
AARP The Magazine's National Spelling Bee, formerly the AARP National Senior Spelling Bee, was founded in 1996 by a group of Cheyenne AARP members who wanted to challenge the 50+ community to keep their minds sharp as they age. Over the years, it has grown into a highly competitive and challenging event attracting adult spellers from all over the country and Canada. It is open to anyone age 50 or older, except previous winners, and is supported by NRTA: AARP's Educator Community and the Staying Sharp program.
"This year's group of spellers were the most impressive I've seen," said AARP Wyoming Director Rita Inoway. "It's great to see so many people dedicated to keeping their minds sharp and taking on the challenge of participating in the bee."
The final 16 competitors in this year's competition finished in the following order:
1. Larry Grossman - Northwood, N.D. - Age 56

The Nigerian American Flag

Muriel Stockdale has created her unique U.S. Flag series in recognition and celebration of the cultural diversity of the different races making up the United States of America.
Over half a million Nigerians reside in all the fifty states and the federal district of America and Muriel Stockdale's Nigerian American Flag shown above is in honor of the Nigerian Americans, whose remarkable and laudable achievements are symbolic models of the great American Dream.
The following is her statement on the inspiration of the Nigerian American Flag:
Here is a particularly multicultural flag; the fabric is made in Switzerland for the Nigerian market. It is made for wear as an elaborate and glorious head wrap that makes the Nigerian woman wearing it look like a goddess. This flag is set in a delicate light gold frame.

What is A Boyfriend?
What is a Boyfriend?
A man who is the lover of a girl or young woman.
~ wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
A boyfriend is a male partner in a non-marital romantic relationship. ~en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boyfriend
A boyfriend is a boyfriend, but a boyfriend means something different to a poor girl from a rich girl.
To most poor girls and poor single women, a Boyfriend is the man she has chosen to date and sleep with for material benefits in cash or kind.
It is not easy for poor girls and poor single women to have a relationship with a man if he cannot provide or supply their needs. And if he cannot supply on demand, they move on to other targets.
The comfortable or rich girls and rich single women are the most trust worthy, because they are not going out with a guy for his money or material gains. They are going out with a guy, because they need him in their lives as a friend or lover.
It is pathetic if the only thing a girlfriend can offer a boyfriend in a relationship is sex.
If sex is the only thing you can give your boyfriend in return, then he might as well be dating a call girl.
A poor girl or single woman can have what I call value-added relationship with a boyfriend by offering him more than sexual gratification. So, do not make him feel like he is paying you for dating you.
Once in a while, save and buy him gifts and do not do this like a trade by barter, because many girlfriends only give gifts to their boyfriends to bargain for something costlier than what they have given to them.
Boyfriends appreciate gifts from their girlfriends, regardless of the price-tag.
A nice shirt, underwear or hair shampoo would be well received.
Boyfriends appreciate girlfriends who show mutual interest in their academic or professional goals. Therefore, girlfriends should be what God made Eve to be to Adam, a help mate and not a sex machine.
Discuss your academic or professional objectives and relate as partners in progress in the pursuit of your mutual success.
If a girlfriend has the bad habit of always demanding gifts and money from a boyfriend, she is sending wrong signals and such a negative impression can put him off.
A boyfriend should be first; Your Friend for the love of sharing and caring for someone.
Sex should not used as your bargaining chip to get something from your boyfriend.
Do not try to be smart by seeing or using a boyfriend as your constant source of regular income.
If you are a poor girl or poor single woman and your boyfriend gives you money, do not spend all the cash on shopping!
You can save some of the sums for the rainy day.
Do not blow it all in a week and rush to demand more money.
You can spend half of the sum on investments.
In Nigeria, you can buy shares or start a pay-phone call center with some cash.
If you are a student on or off campus, buy shares or start the pay-phone call center serviced by Starcomms. This will give you regular income and save you from the harassment and embarrassment of sexual abuse.
According to Starcomms Marketing Director Manoj Vashisht:
"All an operator needs is to simply buy a Starcomms Smart Center specially designed for tele-centers and get rewarded with up to 7,000 naira [US$60] in bonus on 60,000 naira of monthly airtime spent in the Starcomms Bonuzee loyalty program."
"The aim of making this package very affordable is to empower more Nigerians, especially youths and entrepreneurs in general."
You can employ a young school leaver to operate it at a busy bus stop or street corner. This is a booming business in Nigeria.
It is not easy for poor girls and poor single women in Nigeria to ignore the temptations of using their sex for material benefits by dating and sleeping with boyfriends who can afford to give them money and gifts. But if they use their brains more than their loins, they will be healthier, safer and wealthier than those who abuse and misuse their sexual organs for material possessions.
I knew many poor girls and poor single women who could not buy sanitary pads and one of them told me that she tore one of her white Clothes and used a piece as sanitary pad.
In Northern Nigeria, most of the poor girls and poor single women do not even bother to use sanitary pads. When they sleep with boyfriends for cash, they spend the money on new clothes and continue with their careless way of life in ignorance of how a small sum of money can empower them to become self-reliant.
Girlfriends and single women should have scruples, and respect the values and virtues of the dignity, integrity and nobility of womanhood.
This post will help the poor girls and single women in Nigeria and make them earn the respect of their boyfriends who would appreciate them more if they do not use sex to bargain for material supplies.
Cheers and God bless.

June 14th is Flag Day. How Will You be Celebrating?
NEW YORK, June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- If you're anything like Muriel Stockdale, this Flag Day you'll be designing and crafting a customized US Flag with the stars and stripes built from symbols native to your ancestors' homeland.
Muriel Stockdale
Artist Muriel Stockdale has been creating flags that depict the integration of other cultures into the celebration of the American experience for the past four years. Her flag series, E PLURIBUS, currently includes nineteen flags, each incorporating fabrics, symbols and styles of other civilizations into the American flag template. Exquisitely hand-crafted, creatively brilliant in their depiction of the cultural trademarks of other countries, the E PLURIBUS flags function both as works of art and tributes to the homelands that have ultimately enriched and strengthened the very patriotism of America.
An immigrant herself, Muriel chose flag art as her method to both celebrate this key ingredient of diversity and to illustrate the unity of this great country. "E Pluribus Unum, 'Out of Many, One' -- the mandate of the Great American Seal, is particularly inspiring and perhaps more relevant today than ever before as our country continues to incorporate immigrants," says Stockdale.
The unique beauty of each flag is the result of exploration into the cultural gifts and sacred symbols of the different countries, and their meanings. Stockdale has chosen to depict the Tibetan culture by using traditional Buddhist prayer flags for the stripes, and on the Japanese version, folded origami cranes for stars. The Native American flag is done in beaded buckskin, while the Danish American flag is made in the tradition of great Danish bentwood giving the impression of a flag blowing in the wind. The Mayan American Flag features little cornhusk dolls that are called "worry people". If you're worried about something you tell the worry doll.
"My ultimate goal is to show that diversity of personal patriotic expression is a beautiful thing and enhances the lives of all of us," says Stockdale. "I want to invite others to send me their flags to include as part of the project. My aim is to inspire others to make their own flag, based on their cultural heritage."

Rachel Ray's Dunkin' Donuts and the American Islamophobic Outrage

Rachel Ray
My friend Father Dave of Australia notified me of the controversy over the embarrassment and harassment of America's celebrity chef Rachel Ray, because of the "Palestinian" scarf she had around her neck in the Dunkin' Donuts online advert. The Dunkin' Donuts ad campaign has been stopped, because of the erroneous and outrageous political uproar over her kaffiyeh-like garment!
The controversial Dunkin' Donuts Online Advert.
This is preposterous!
Americans have become paranoid since 9/11 and anything that looks Islamic makes them suspicious of Islamic terrorism and an ordinary Arabian scarf around your neck becomes a symbol of an Islamist? Therefore an American cannot put on any Middle Eastern apparel?
An Arabian model is now a terror suspect?

Swimsuit Confidence Gets Better With Age
More Magazine and Lands' End(R) Survey Reveals Healthy Swimsuit Attitudes Among Women Over Forty
DODGEVILLE, Wis., June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Move over Millennials, the most confident beauties at the beach this season may be over the age of 40. A reader panel survey of more than 1,400 women over the age of 40 conducted by More magazine and Lands' End found nearly half (47 percent) of respondents have gained swimsuit confidence with age, admitting they feel most confident in a swimsuit since turning 40-years-old. Healthy swimsuit attitudes are further echoed with nearly all (95 percent) participants stating women over 40 can truly look and feel fantastic in a swimsuit.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080612/AQTH009)
"Forty-something body confidence is in," says Regina Haymes, Fashion Director of More magazine. "These results reconfirmed what we already know about our readers -- these are unquestionably poised, self-assured women who are confident about who they are."
While fewer than 10 percent fully embrace wearing a swimsuit, 60 percent of survey respondents stated they really don't mind it and deal with it in stride. Seventy-one percent of those surveyed have learned the key to confidently wearing a swimsuit is to maximize the good parts and minimize the rest.
"We are not surprised women are confidently embracing just how great they can look at any age while wearing a swimsuit," said Tara Ellef, senior vice president of merchandising, Lands' End. "While swimsuit assurance may come with age, it may also result from over twenty years of swimsuit shopping experience. We've found over time women come to better understand which swimsuit styles and fits will best flatter their body shape."
Swimsuits to Fit and Flatter
For almost nine out of ten survey respondents (88 percent), a flattering fit is the most important factor when selecting a swimsuit. Nearly half (46 percent) of survey respondents described their body shape as a rectangle, while one-third of respondents (34 percent) felt they had a triangle or pear-shaped body. To complement and balance these body types, more than half (51 percent) of survey respondents considered one-piece swimsuits and 40 percent considered tankinis as the best suits to address the swimsuit anxiety zones, including minimizing tummy (45 percent) and hips (30 percent).
Other interesting survey findings from the More/Lands' End survey include:
-- Taking a Pass on Perfection -- When it comes to wearing a swimsuit, 79
percent would rather be unselfconscious with a perfect swimsuit
attitude than be self-conscious with the perfect swimsuit body (21
percent).
-- Sophisticated Swimsuit Styles Rule -- More than half of respondents (57
percent) want to look stylish in an elegant and sophisticated way; 35
percent want a sporty suit that performs well; five percent crave a
sexy, attention-getting style and three percent long for the latest
trendy pieces.
-- Not Under the Knife -- Three out of four respondents (75 percent) would
rather have a custom-designed swimsuit than receive complimentary
plastic surgery to achieve a fantastic swimsuit look.
-- Searching out a Suit -- Almost one-third (32 percent) of those surveyed
stated they usually can find a suit they like, but it might take a
little longer than anticipated.
-- Why Buy? -- The number-one reason, according to 46 percent of survey
respondents, to purchase a new swimsuit this season stems from the need
for a better-fitting suit. Thirty-one percent of respondents will
purchase a new swimsuit because their body has changed, 30 percent are
looking for swimwear for a specific occasion and 29 percent seek to
update their style.
-- Options, Options, Options -- Respondents are looking for options in
swimsuits. In fact, overall design style and size options ranked very
important to six in 10 respondents (60 percent), while about half of
all participants stated their swimwear purchase is significantly
influenced by bra support, quality fabrics, coverage and tummy control.
-- Sizing it Up -- While a "better fit" is the number one reason for
buying a new suit (46 percent), just one in four (25 percent) actually
take measurements and reference size charts; most use bra size to
determine swimsuit size (52 percent).

Brad Garrett Looks for Love Online
New Online Reality Series Begins Taking Video Applications Today
CULVER CITY, Calif., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Emmy Award-winning actor Brad Garrett kills two birds with one stone -- producing and starring in his first original online series and looking for love -- with his new reality series, Dating Brad Garrett.

The ten-episode series will follow Garrett on blind dates with 10 lucky ladies, chosen from applicants who submit their own original videos online for a chance to make a love connection and be part of the show. Beginning June 12, women can upload their video applications at Crackle.com, (Date Brad), where a panel of Garrett "experts," including his ex-wife and urologist, among others, will review the submissions and decide which applicants will spend a night on the town with the comedian.
"An online dating show seemed like a logical choice given that I'm in the midst of a mid-life crisis, and adverse to pain, which makes getting my ear pierced out of the question," said Garrett. "And since I'm not picky about my choices, I hope women of all sizes, shapes and colors will be compelled to submit their videos."
The series will premiere this fall on Crackle.com, YouTube, AOL Video, Hulu, Verizon Wireless' V CAST Video service, AT&T Wireless, and direct to Sony BRAVIA TVs via BRAVIA Internet Video Link.
Brad Garrett stars as Eddie Stark, one-half of a long-married couple, in the Sony Pictures Television original comedy series 'TIL DEATH for FOX, now heading into its third season. For nine seasons, Garrett portrayed Ray Romano's big brother Robert on the highly-rated series "Everybody Loves Raymond," earning him three Emmy Awards and five Emmy nominations.
Garrett's voice-over work includes voicing Gusteau, the late French culinary genius, in the Academy Award winning animated film, "Ratatouille;" Bloat the blowfish in "Finding Nemo;" Easter Island Head in "Night at the Museum;" and Dim, the rhinoceros beetle, in "A Bug's Life." In 2002, Garrett's portrayal of Jackie Gleason in the critically acclaimed CBS film, "Gleason," earned him an Emmy Award nomination and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for his role. Garrett's additional credits include: Disney's hit comedy, "The Pacifier;" Warner Bros.' "Music and Lyrics," with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore; and the Broadway production of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple."

Five Types of American Guys
12 Jun 2008 15:18 Africa/Lagos
The Future of American Men
Social Technologies And Spike TV Collaborate On Groundbreaking Study On How Men 18-49 Feel About Fatherhood And Family, Politics, Relationships, Role Models, Stress, Technology, Women, And Work For Spike's "State Of Men 2008" Study
WASHINGTON, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- What are guys' lives like today? What is important to them and how can we better relate to them? That was what Spike TV (www.spike.com) asked the Washington DC-based futurist research and consulting firm, Social Technologies, to help the network find out.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20060322/NYW096LOGO )
As the home of everything "men," Spike TV commissioned the study to gain a deeper understanding of the many facets of men, according to Kimberly Maxwell, senior director of brand and consumer research.
"We wanted to check the pulse of American guys to be better able to understand their lifestyles, their daily habits and values," she says, noting that the research builds upon Spike's 2004 "Guy's State of the Union," which delivered a wide-ranging overview of guy's lives.
Maxwell worked with Social Technologies' senior analyst Chris Carbone to investigate how men ages 18 to 49 feel about fatherhood and family, politics, relationships and women, role models, work and stress, technology, and more. The project included several phases:
-- Trend identification: Social Technologies used its knowledgebase to identify the trends and issues most relevant to guys' lives. It then conducted expert interviews and developed hypotheses about the current and future state of American guys.
-- Fieldwork: Market research firm Penn, Schoen & Berland (PSB) tested the hypotheses through an online quantitative survey. Social Technologies followed this up with focus groups in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Minneapolis to hear from guys in their own words.
-- Segment analysis and persona generation: Using a segmentation provided by PSB, Social Technologies created a set of composite personas to help bring the survey and focus group findings to life and deliver them in a compelling way.
"We wanted to bring the research to life so that Spike could put it to use internally and with their partners. By creating personas -- or fictionalized representations of different types of guys -- we were able to achieve that and put a human face on the survey data to communicate the findings in a compelling way," Carbone says.
Five types of American guys
PSB's survey resulted in a segmentation characterizing five types of American guys aged 18-49. Social Technologies analyzed the segmentation data to create descriptions and composite personas, used by Spike to better understand different types of men and how their lifestyle and consumer habits may change in the near future. So what are these five types of American guys? -- Young Carefrees (23% of guys)
-- Above Average Joes (29%)
-- Good Ol' Boys (13%)
-- Mac Daddies (20%)
-- Worry Warriors (15%)
Young Carefrees (23% of guys):
These guys are living out their post-college and early career years, and in many ways have yet to hit their stride. Seven in 10 are single, and they are the least likely to have kids. They are less successful than they thought they'd be at this point in life, but are optimistic about the future. Having grown up with technology, these guys are digital natives who often take advances like Facebook and iPhones for granted.
"One of the biggest things the PSB survey confirmed for us is that these guys are incredibly friend-focused, more than any other segment. Nearly eight in 10 say spending time with friends is their favorite way to relax and 88% say they make time for friends regardless of other commitments," said Maxwell.
-- Where they're headed: The Carefrees will take important steps toward defining themselves in new ways. They'll get their first "real jobs," rent a place with friends; maybe even meet someone they could actually see themselves marrying. "Friends will remain important," says Carbone, "but these guys may start to shed some of the people on the fringes of their social circle; they'll soften ties to their parents, and increasingly define themselves through their own choices."
Above Average Joes (29%): The Above Average Joes were the most progressive segment in terms of their views on masculinity and their roles in the family. They are more likely than any other group to be married, and many have children. They are thriving in their roles as modern husbands and fathers, and working hard to create a positive work/life balance. This is reflected in their use of technology. They're not tech junkies -- but they do look to tech devices to help them stay connected to their families and be available to them anytime, anywhere.
"This segment represents guys who have really embraced the progressive view of masculinity. The Joes feel that a man should be an equal partner in a relationship and live that out at home. They see that having two sources of income is an attractive option. The PSB survey showed us that only 15% of these guys think the man should be the primary breadwinner for the family," Maxwell explains.
-- Where they're headed: These men will remain family-focused. In the coming years, they will face a new stage of parenting with more family travel, teenage kids, saving for college, etc. Carbone remarks that they're going to be incredibly pressed for time and will struggle to find time for themselves during these busy family years.
Good Ol' Boys (13%): These guys are likely to be single -- though more than one-third have kids -- and are the segment most likely to maintain traditional values of masculinity: rugged, stoic, and pragmatic. These values shape their relationships with their partners and kids, as well as the kind of leisure and entertainment they engage in. They have accepted that dual-income households are normal but prefer that their wives don't earn significantly more than they do.
The Good Ol' Boys have a stereotypical male point-of-view when it comes to humor, and their appetite for extreme content is far beyond that of other segments. They are less likely than all the other segments to say that there is too much swearing or violence on TV. "These guys also have a distinctly DIY approach to life," says Maxwell, noting that only 34% have role models and 42% say they tend to figure things out for themselves as they go along in life.
-- Where they're headed: Many of these guys will search for someone to settle down with. "But with their old-school views about relationship roles, this may be tougher for them than for some other segments," notes Carbone. They'll also be watching closely for the signs of both a prolonged recession -- and a recovery -- since they are one of the lower-income segments.
Mac Daddies (20%): These guys lead busy lives, juggling work, home, hobbies and activities -- but they wouldn't have it any other way. The Mac Daddies are modern men, comfortable with non-traditional "guy" behaviors: they enjoy shopping, carry few gender stereotypes and they care about their looks more than other guys. However, they haven't abandoned traditional models completely. They have some of the longest working hours and highest incomes, with great passion for both sports and technology.
"These guys are in-shape, high-powered achievers," says Maxwell, adding that this group is also the most likely of all the segments to have professional jobs -- 43% of them do -- and this is reflected in their higher-than-average incomes. "The Mac Daddies are also really into technology. Ninety percent feel their tech products say a lot about who they are, and 60% think technology helps reduce their stress."
-- Where they're headed: More of the Mac Daddies will settle into committed relationships, and many will start families. "We see them being just as confident and driven in these new roles as in their current ones. They'll keep powering ahead at work, perhaps putting even more time in as the truly big bucks come into view. Burnout may become an issue for these guys," says Carbone.
Worry Warriors (15%): Life is hard on these guys -- or so they think. Even though they're well-off and well-educated, they feel life is harder now than it was for their dads -- whether in terms of achieving financial success, finding role models, or simply coping with daily stress. These guys have been in the workforce for a decade or more and, as time has gone by, many have become disillusioned with the system. Only about one-third of the Worry Warriors report being more successful than they thought they'd be at this stage in life.
Maxwell notes that 40% of these guys are married and have kids; but even this part of their life stresses them out. "They're more likely than the average guy to say they can't meet all their obligations or spend as much time with their kids as they should. They're into technology, but in an interesting contrast to the Mac Daddies, the Worry Warriors feel that it's a mixed blessing, and that in most cases it adds to both their work and their stress," she adds.
-- Where they're headed: Guys in this segment are prime candidates for midlife crises, but they're also capable of confronting their dissatisfaction. "These guys are educated and have money and it's easy to see them rethinking things as age and experience give them greater perspective on life," Carbone remarks. "What they really want most is a role model to help them navigate their career, family life and romance, but they're just having trouble finding anyone to look up to."
What does it all mean?
"While there are differences across the segments, some interesting overall conclusions can be drawn about guys today," Carbone says. "For one thing, this research with Spike shows that guys are still deciphering what it means to be a man in the post-feminist world, and this is something we really tried to express in our personas," he explains. "Life is complex, and even contradictory and -- just like women -- guys have more options for identity than ever before. In the past, a guy's "life path" was pretty clear. Life usually included going to school, getting a job and starting a family, all in a fairly standard order."
Men knew what they "should" be doing throughout their lives and the timing and order of these major milestones. "But today there is no set model or path and men's identities and experiences have become fragmented," Carbone adds. "More than ever, guys are creating their own milestones and measures for success."
Another thing that came out loud and clear in the research is that today's guys don't subscribe to the idea of larger-than-life heroes. Instead, they look up to everyday heroes. "People like firefighters, soldiers, teachers, law enforcement and also working parents got the nod from the guys we talked to as being America's real heroes," states Carbone.

The series is hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O'Riley and is a co-production of WGBH, From the Top, and Don Mischer Productions in partnership with Carnegie Hall. Emmy Award-winning director and Juilliard School alumnus Gary Halvorson produced and directed the second season. With a combined list of credits including Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, the televised Grand Reopening of Carnegie Hall, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the production team of Halvorson and Don Mischer Productions represents an unprecedented collaboration for public television, and a rare one for the entertainment world at large.
Season Two of From the Top at Carnegie Hall promises to be more intimate and engage viewers more personally with each of the featured musicians: "Last year we produced a show about classical music played by kids," said Don Mischer. "This year we are making a show about kids, all of whom play classical music." Viewers will accompany these sensational young performers backstage at Carnegie Hall, as well as to their hometowns where they'll see a family bathroom double as the most acoustically pleasing rehearsal space in a young violist's home. They'll also meet a trumpet player who performs in a Manhattan jazz club frequented by the likes of Tony Bennett, and a spirited young marimba player who explains that rhythm exists not only on the performance stage but all around him, even as he does his chores.
From the Top at Carnegie Hall recently launched a brand new Web site at pbs.org/fromthetop. The site features streaming video, downloadable podcasts, and series and performer information, along with an extensive teacher's handbook including activity guides, lesson plans, and an educator's index that groups content by instrument, genre, and composer. Italian Vocal Superstar Elisa Poised for U.S. Debut With Her Album Dancing, Set for Release June 17 at iTunes and July 15 at Retail and Other Digital Outlets on Sugar/Universal
THE SOULFUL TITLE TRACK HAS BEEN AN ITUNES HIT IN THE U.S. SINCE JUNE '07, WHEN IT WAS FEATURED ON SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE - THE YOUTUBE CLIP HAS BEEN VIEWED OVER 1 MILLION TIMES
LOS ANGELES, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Italian-born singer-songwriter Elisa, already a multi-platinum, award-winning superstar in her native country, makes her North American debut this month with her new full-length album, Dancing (Sugar/Universal). The album, which powerfully showcases the genre-bending artist's emotionally resonant pop-rock sound, premieres at iTunes on June 17 (including a bonus track, Elisa's cover of the Stones' "Wild Horses") and will be released at physical retail and other digital outlets on July 15.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080611/LAW029)
Dancing builds on the love that Stateside audiences have been feeling for Elisa ever since the title track was featured on Fox-TV's hit show So You Think You Can Dance in June, 2007. Immediately following Lacey Schwimmer and Kameron Bink's breathtaking routine, "Dancing" shot into the Top 20 on iTunes (the only place it's currently available), and has since amassed more than 80,000 paid downloads, still selling briskly at 600+ downloads per week. On YouTube, organic audience reaction to the song has also resulted in more than one million views of the SYTYCD clip, making it the all-time most-viewed dance from the show online.
Fans of "Dancing" will feel in sync with the richly textured album's other songs including "Rainbow," an ethereal and hypnotic ballad that's another lead track. Highlights also include the delicate yet passionately soaring album opener "The Waves," the spare and aching "Broken," the rock-flavored "Stranger" and Elisa's gorgeous, almost elegiac take on Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," the album's one cover. Throughout, her emotional intelligence and soulfully immediate -- and intimate -- lead vocals make for a spellbinding musical journey.
"My songs are centered on emotions," said Elisa, whose work has drawn comparisons to artists including Leona Lewis, Alanis Morissette and Corinne Bailey Rae. "I describe states of mind, and my dynamic involves creating tension, building it and then releasing. It's like a rubber band, I try to stretch it as much as I can." GRAMMY(R)-winning producer Glenn Ballard, who worked with Elisa on her internationally released, top-selling 'best of' compilation Soundtrack '96-'06, said: "When I first met Elisa, I was very impressed to find a true and real artist. In the noise and fast-pace of today's culture, we need real artists who are able to express things we don't even have time to talk about."
In her extraordinary career to date, Elisa has had the opportunity to express herself on many remarkable world stages in the company of a host of global music legends. Most recently, she performed "Dancing" and dueted on "La Voce Del Silenzio" with Andrea Bocelli in Lajatico Italy -- both songs are features on the 2008 DVD Vivere: Andrea Bocelli Live In Tuscany. Previously, she has dueted with Luciano Pavarotti at the final session of Pavarotti & Friends, sung a gospel version of the Italian National Anthem at the closing ceremony for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and recorded the song "Teach Me Again" in tandem with Tina Turner. Her many accolades include five awards from Italy's prestigious Festival di Sanremo, an MTV European Music Awards Best Italian Artist honor and a Tenco Award for Best Debut Album for 1997's Pipes And Flowers.
An acclaimed and commanding live performer, Elisa will tour North America in support of Dancing in late 2008 (to date, she has only played once in the U.S., two sets for an April '08 gig at NYC's Joe's Pub). She is excited about coming to America, and experiencing a whole new world of audiences. "The important thing for me is to get out and play," she says, "and to connect with people. We're all the same, we share the same emotions. The world is one place."

Strides Made To Reduce Violence Against Women, as Half a Million Bracelets Sold in the United States.
NEW YORK, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Avon Global Ambassador, Reese Witherspoon visited Japan to bring a message of empowerment and hope to the Asia Pacific region. Ms. Witherspoon was the guest of honor at a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony where she met female breast cancer survivors. In addition to the tea ceremony, Ms. Witherspoon met with Avon Representatives and introduced the region to Avon's first-ever global fundraising product, the Women's Empowerment Bracelet.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080611/NYW031 )
In Tokyo, Ms. Witherspoon attended an intimate Tea Ceremony dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono, by a prominent kimono dresser, Midori Yogi. Ms. Yogi's family has dressed the Japanese Imperial Family for weddings since 1952.
The Tea Ceremony, which is a multi-faceted traditional activity designed to capture the spirit of healing the body, mind and soul, offered an open forum to discuss breast cancer issues and needs in Japan, which is a critical topic due to a high rate of breast cancer in the country and the Asia Pacific region. At the Tea Ceremony, Ms. Witherspoon met Dr. Matsuda, Chairman of the Japan Breast Cancer Association, and three Japanese breast cancer survivors, and talked with them about the lack of breast cancer awareness and screening facilities.
"As Avon's Global Ambassador, I'm honored to have this opportunity to meet with such extraordinary women, and experience a highlight of Japanese culture" said Ms. Witherspooon. "While their courage is inspiring, I was saddened to hear that only about 12% of women in Japan receive regular breast cancer screening. The lack of testing equipment and breast cancer experts in Japan means that many women here do not have access to the medical technology and care that is critical to diagnose and fight this deadly disease."
"Avon has been committed to supporting women all over the world for more than 120 years, and as the company for women, we truly believe that empowering women will change the world," said Geralyn Breig, Senior Vice President and Global Brand President of Avon Products, Inc. "Ms. Witherspoon has an incredible track record of giving back in both big and small ways and we are thrilled that she is in Japan lending her support to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer and domestic violence in her role as the company's first global ambassador."
Avon's global philanthropy has raised and awarded more that $525 million for breast cancer research and to ensure the best care and treatment for all breast cancer patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Avon is the largest corporate supporter of the fight against breast cancer in the world.
Avon Japan is committed to changing these statistics and creating greater awareness with an emphasis on the importance of early detection. Since the beginning of their breast cancer campaign in 2002, Avon has held some of the largest breast cancer awareness events in Japan as well as donated nearly $2 million for mammography screenings, equipment donation, research and care for survivors and their families.
While in Japan, Ms. Witherspoon also introduced Avon's first-ever global fundraising product, the Women's Empowerment Bracelet, designed to save and improve women's lives worldwide. The bracelet was first unveiled in the U.S. in March of this year at the second annual Global Summit for a Better Tomorrow, presented by the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) in partnership with Avon, at the United Nations in celebration of International Women's Day. Over half a million units of the Women's Empowerment Bracelet have already sold in the U.S.
The bracelet, which features a clasp in the shape of the infinity symbol to carry the message of the limitless possibilities for women, will now be sold by Avon Sales Representatives in Japan and will be also available in Taiwan, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and India and sold in the more than 100 countries globally in which Avon operates. In support of this mission, proceeds from the Women's Empowerment Bracelet will go to a new endowment, the Avon Empowerment Fund, which will contribute to the UNIFEM-managed UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The first $500,000 from bracelet sales will be matched in 2008 by the Avon Foundation for a total donation of $1 million for new grants by the UN Trust Fund, representing the single-largest one-year corporate contribution to-date.

Anyone Can Play the Harp in One Year for $5/Day

Anyone Can Play the Harp in One Year for $5/Day
ASHEVILLE, N.C., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Harps are generally known as an instrument of the elite: enormous, expensive, and difficult to play. That will change if North Carolina harpist and teacher Pamela Bruner has her way.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080609/CLMFNS1 )
Bruner became enchanted with the Celtic harp at a Renaissance Festival, bought a small harp and a book, and taught herself to play. She has now recorded over a dozen CDs, and performs and teaches at harp conferences. "People would tell me they had always wanted to play the harp, and ask how long it took me to learn to play. I realized how many folks shared my love for the harp."
"I believe that anyone can do what I did," says Bruner. But there were two obstacles to sharing her dream -- the cost of most harps, and concerns about needing a harp teacher. Bruner, who had piano training, felt that the materials for self-teaching went too fast for most people, so she created her own, consulting with conservatory-trained harp teachers. "I wanted to make it possible for anyone to learn to play the harp, even if they had never read music before, and couldn't find a harp teacher." Bruner's Play the Harp Beautifully series of books and DVDs has sold over a thousand copies. "I even get emails from harp teachers, telling me they love the book!"
Creating an affordable harp was the next project for Bruner, since fine Celtic harps retail for $5000, and the orchestral harps retail for $20,000 or more. She went to her husband, Dave Woodworth of Heartland Harps, who builds top-quality Celtic harps. "I told him I wanted a full-sized Celtic harp with a great sound, that looked nice, but would cost less than $5 a day. He was skeptical at first!" Using special materials, together the couple created the Dreamweaver model, which retails for $1595 -- less than $5 a day over one year.
"I'm on a crusade," says Bruner. "Harp music is so beautiful, and brings so much peace and healing, whether people play it for themselves, their friends, a church, hospital, or nursing home. I want everyone to know that playing the harp is something that anyone can do."

Women Saving the Earth
Exhibition Showcases Bold Eco Warriors and Green Pioneers in June
SAN FRANCISCO, June 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The International Museum of Women (I.M.O.W.), a non-partisan social change museum, explores links between politics, women, and the environment this month in the global online exhibition Women, Power and Politics. With climate change the hot topic on political agendas around the world, the multimedia exhibition makes a timely exploration of political activism through women's efforts to save the earth.
Debuting new essays, interviews, film clips, community forums, a podcast and artwork in June, Women, Power and Politics looks at many reasons why women care about the environment. Through nine new stories, the exhibition reveals how women are more adversely affected by environmental damage than men, yet shows how environmental activism is frequently a gateway to political activism for women globally.
In the aftermath of tsunamis, and the recent cyclone and earthquakes in Myanmar and China, the Women, Power and Politics multimedia exploration reports shocking trends of how natural disasters disproportionately affect women worldwide. Yet, the exhibition also brings to light stories of women environmental warriors who are cleaning up ecological damage everywhere from Papua New Guinea to Colombia. We meet green pioneers including Olya Melen of the Ukraine, winner of the Goldman Prize for Europe; Kaisha Atakhanova of Khazakstan, protecting her homeland where the equivalent of 20,000 Hiroshima-sized nuclear bombs were detonated; Medha Paktar of India, taking on the two goliaths of government and the World Bank in efforts to protect indigenous land rights; and Libia Grueso of Colombia, preserving her country's rainforest, one of the richest biological areas in the world.
Visitors can also listen to this month's featured podcast with activist Sibongile Musuku van Damme of South Africa to learn how gender, race and the environment co-exist in the post-Apartheid country; see film clips of Green Belt Movement founder Wangari Maathai of Kenya, the first Nobel Peace Prize winner to make the connection between keeping peace and conserving the environment; view vibrant murals that link environmental toxins to breast cancer, and meet Green Party member and MP Janina Andersson from Finland who reveals why women make up the majority in the Green Party.
"Women are some of the most provocative and effective environmental activists," says Dr. Masum Momaya, curator of the Women, Power and Politics global online exhibition. "By bringing the stories of these inspiring women to exhibition visitors from around the world, many more people will learn about their heroic efforts and in turn be inspired to take positive actions in their own communities."
Women, Power and Politics connects visitors to stories of remarkable women claiming and exercising their power to transform the world. The exhibition features content from more than 50 countries and currently highlights 80 plus stories that cross international borders and engage a global audience. I.M.O.W. invites people of all cultures and political affiliations to submit their own stories and art and join the conversation in its online Community. Launched on March 8, the cutting-edge multimedia exhibition runs until December 31 in four languages -- Arabic, English, French and Spanish at http://www.imow.org/.

Women Who Gain Excessive Weight During Pregnancy More Likely to Have Overweight Children

Women Who Gain Excessive Weight During Pregnancy More Likely to Have Overweight Children
PHILADELPHIA, June 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Children of mothers who gain more than the recommended amount of weight during pregnancy are more likely to be overweight at age seven, say researchers from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, in a study published today in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Children of mothers who are obese prior to pregnancy and gain excessive weight are at the greatest risk for overweight.
"The earliest determinants of obesity may operate during intrauterine life, and gestational weight gain may influence the environment in the womb in ways that can have long-term consequences on the risk of obesity in children," said study leader Brian Wrotniak, P.T., Ph.D., of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. "Adherence to pregnancy weight gain recommendations may be a new and effective way to prevent childhood obesity, since currently almost half of U.S. women exceed these recommendations."
The researchers reviewed data from a cohort of 10,226 participants enrolled between 1959 and 1965 in the multicenter National Collaborative Perinatal Project. It was initiated to investigate risk factors for cerebral palsy at 12 U.S. sites. This study looked at the children born at full-term gestation, and researchers evaluated socioeconomic and growth data during gestation, at birth and at age 7. Maternal data were collected at enrollment by using a questionnaire that included maternal pre-pregnancy weight, age and race. Maternal weight and height were measured at the time of delivery to determine gestational weight gain - the difference between the measured weight at delivery and the reported pre-pregnancy weight.
According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), which makes recommendations for weight gain during pregnancy, the amount of weight women should gain during pregnancy depends on the mother's weight status before pregnancy. Women at a healthy pre-pregnancy weight are encouraged to gain 25 to 35 pounds, while women who are overweight should stay between 15 to 25 pounds. Women who are underweight should gain more weight during pregnancy -- between 28 and 40 pounds.
Of the women studied by the researchers, 11 percent gained excessive weight, 24 percent gained adequate weight and 65 percent gained insufficient weight. Today, said the researchers, these proportions would be very different, with almost one in two women gaining more weight than recommended during pregnancy.
The authors say that encouraging pregnant women to adopt healthy eating practices and engage in aerobic physical activity could help them achieve appropriate weight gain and also help prevent obesity in their children. They add that benefits would likewise result from healthy eating and exercise before becoming pregnant, as well as reducing postpartum weight retention before a subsequent pregnancy.
Using the IOM guidelines, children whose mothers exceeded the recommended weight gain were 48 percent more likely to be overweight than children whose mothers stayed within the recommended weight gain. The risk of overweight was similar for children born of women who gained insufficient weight compared with mothers who gained appropriate weight during pregnancy.
The researchers add that more research is necessary to clarify whether the association between greater gestational weight gain and increased odds of overweight in offspring is causal, and whether it exists in today's environment of increasing obesity.

The Sexploitation of Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus
The Sexploitation of Miley Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus, AKA Miley Stewart, "Hannah Montana" cannot wait to turn 16 on November 23 and sow her wild oaths (that is if she has not done so already).
Is Miley Cyrus a virgin?
How can a 15-year-old girl dating a 22-year-old guy still be a virgin in America?
How can a teenage hottie hanging out with Kim Kardashian still be a virgin?
Kim Kardashian, whose only claim to fame is the pornographic home video she sold for five million dollars and as the playmate of Paris Hilton whose sex video also circulated the Internet.
Kim Kardashian in Zoo Magazine
I monitor TV programmes shown on both cable and public TV in Nigeria and there is nothing beneficial to the formative years of children in the Disney Channel Original Series of Hannah Montana. I have never seen Hannah Montana talk about her grades or going to college. What she is often showing is swooning over her boyfriend and kissing him or other silly games.
This is what her father, the country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and Disney Channel Executive Vice President Gary Marsh are using her as a sex object to sell their DVDs and CDs to millions of impressionable and vulnerable teens all over the world. But, they do not care since Miley Cyrus made over $18.2 million in 2007 and will make more from her Breakout CD and DVD be released on July 22, 2008. She can sing "Nobody's Perfect", but that is not a good excuse to turn her into a teenage sex object and corrupt the millions of innocent children watching her on TV.

Top 10 Reasons Why Women Are Unfaithful

Nymphomaniacs are common these days.
Shaadi Times has illustrated the 10 most likely reasons women cheat on their men. You have to see the Slideshow and agree or disagree with the conclusions of Ruchi Agarwal.
Being an absentee partner and absent for long periods is a very good excuse for a woman to stray or even plunge carelessly and recklessly into the open arms and traps of lecherous men. But not all lonely housewives are desperate housewives. But how can a wife endure the absence of the warmth of her husband for four years? When he is not in prison or exiled, but only relocated to another place for academic or professional goals, she should remain faithful to him and starve herself of sex until he returns?
Only God can help a woman in such a case from the daily temptations of extra-marital affairs.
Lechery has made millions of women to be used for romantic and erotic Archery by unscrupulous men who use these promiscuous sex objects for target practice.
Players have a hit list of the babes and ladies they want to lay and they bet on who would do so first. So, many women often fall into the net of these hit men on the prowl.
I know a young woman who has been well circulated in sowing her wild oats.
She plays with other men promiscuously and lecherously, because she wants to be laid.
She wants to sample as many men as possible before she finally settles down with a single sex partner.
We call such girls or women cheerful givers in Lagos. The guys simply take turns on her and rate themselves on who had her more than the others.
That love is reverence, and worship, and glory, and the upward glance. Not a bandage for dirty sores. But they don't know it. Those who speak of love most promiscuously are the ones who've never felt it. They make some sort of feeble stew out of sympathy, compassion, comtempt, and general indiference, and they call it love. Once you've felt what it means to love as you and I know it - the total passion for the total height - you are unable of anything else.

Why I Love Hillary Clinton
Senator Hillary Clinton still looks stunning at 60!
I find her more attractive than both Sharon Stone who is 50 and Madonna who was born on August 16, 1958. Have you seen Madonna's hands? They look like the hands of a boxer!
I have a picture of the topless bust of Hillary Clinton from the Museum of Sex in New York, but her physical beauty is not the reason why I love her, but her magnanimity.
It was the great Aristotle, who called magnanimity "the crowning virtue" and that is what I saw in the honorable personality of Senator Hillary Clinton as she acknowledged the best qualities of Senator Barack Obama and became his strongest ally when she honorably endorsed him as being worthy to be elected as the next President of the United States of America in November, 2008.
By her remarkable and laudable exemplary leadership, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has defined the dignity, integrity, nobility, tenacity, and magnanimity of the heroic American woman in the political history of America.

Inspired by Dr. Norman Pastorek, a renowned New York-based facial plastic surgeon, and his wife Janice, a Skin care expert and noted Skin care author and lecturer, Home Skin Lab(TM) by Dr Pastorek Institute was developed to address women's main skin concerns. The line will offer 5 different protocols: Ageless, against the first signs of ageing, Wrinkl’ess, to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, Firmness, to redensify the skin, Brightness, to brighten dull complexions, Pureness, to fight oily skin issues.
Each high power protocol consists in a 28-day treatment, including 3 skincare products and a unique e-coaching program that will help customers enhance their skin beauty through nutrition, daily life balancing skills and wellness exercises. The Dr Pastorek Institute includes a team of experts bringing each a specific and committed expertise to the brand.
"The Home Skin Lab(TM) brand is a significant addition to Coty Prestige' Skin care portfolio" said Bernd Beetz, CEO, Coty Inc. "The development of this line strengthens our Skin care offer and is Coty's first step in its strategic direction to become a top-five beauty company".
"Given Dr. Pastorek's experience and the utmost respect he and his wife have earned throughout the medical community, Coty could not have partnered with a more appropriate team to create top-of the line Skin care products", said Michele Scannavini, President, Coty Prestige.
"Home Skin Lab(TM) by Dr Pastorek Institute is an opportunity for Coty Prestige to enter the cosmeceutical segment which is growing at a tremendous pace in the United States and is starting to make significant inroads in the rest of the world," said Michele Scannavini.
"On a daily basis I am seeing patients and hearing their need for skin healing and quality anti-aging Skin care products," commented Dr. Norman Pastorek. "Home Skin Lab(TM) meets this need by providing women with high-quality products that, overtime, provide confidence in their skin's appearance."
Home Skin Lab(TM) will be launched simultaneously in the US and in Europe starting from September 2008. In Europe, Home Skin lab will be launched in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece and Eastern Europe exclusively at Sephora, and in Germany, Austria and in the Netherlands at Douglas. In the US, the brand will be available first on Home Shopping Network.
Following the Europe and USA launches, Home Skin Lab expansion will continue into Asia and the rest of the world with exclusive partnerships.

Barack Obama's Message To the Boys and Men Who Abuse and Take Sexual Advantage of Women

"Respect the girls. Abusing or taking sexual advantage of women does not make you a big man. It makes you a small man to do that."
~ Senator Barack Obama
Keli Goff said that this message is important, because according to the Centers for Disease Control, AIDS is now the leading cause of death for young, black American women.
Are you surprised?
African-American girls and women are careless and reckless in their lust for sex.
The sexploitation of African-American girls and women in pornographic musical videos and movies is promoting indiscriminate sex as the promiscuous girls and women have made themselves cheap sex objects for the pleasure of boys and men who see them as sex toys.
Senator Barack Obama should charge the TV Networks and entertainment content producers and providers to produce musical videos and movies showing diligent and intelligent American girls and boys making their grades and going on to college and not shaking their buttocks in-front of cameras like wild animals in the African jungle.
Only an abnormal and sick girl or woman will be shameless to dance half naked in musical videos or movies.
I am a professional artist and producer and I do not tolerate such nonsense. Being sexy does not mean dancing half-naked and shaking your buttocks like a beast of no nation.
I have used some of the best professionals in choreography in my production and dancing like a diabolical prostitute is not CHOREOGRAPHY.
It is degrading womanhood for young teenage girls and women to allow desperate boys and men to use them as sex objects to sell their CDs and DVDs.
Sexploitation in Hip-hop or Ragga musical videos is not choreography, but pornography.

One in Five Newlywed Couples Don't Consummate Their Marriage According to New AreYouRomantic.com Poll
- Survey Shows First Night As Man and Wife Not Always a Romantic Honeymoon Kick-Off -
LAKEVILLE, Pa., June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- One in five couples admit to not consummating the marriage on their wedding night, according to a recent "Happy Honeymoon?" poll from AreYouRomantic.com. The survey, commissioned by Caesars Pocono Resorts, asked married men and women about their newlywed romantic activities: from honeymoon planning to couples activities to the importance of marital tradition. The poll determined that while a small number of couples seem to prefer the new and innovative, most couples still value tradition in post-nuptial travel planning.
According to the "Happy Honeymoon?" poll, most couples do "seal the deal" on their wedding night, however, it was discovered that almost a fifth of newlyweds don't. Why? Blame the open bar, lack of sleep and "natural" concerns.
-- The reasons why they didn't:
- 32 percent said that they (or their partner) were too tired
- 14 percent said that they (or their partner) had too much to drink
(Women chose this answer twice as often as men did!)
- 11 percent said that family and friends were still around
(Men chose this answer more than five times more often than woman.)
- 10 percent said that it wasn't important to them.
-- The good, the bad and the ugly: The list of free-response answers why
couples didn't consummate the marriage on their wedding night was
topped by "that time of the month."
- Our respondents also mentioned:
"He was playing blackjack all night." (Who does that?)
"Too much sake and sushi consumed." (Yum, but yikes)
"It was consummated MANY TIMES before." (notice the caps!)
Despite some couples' lack of indulgence in traditional wedding night bliss, most newlyweds still incorporate tradition into their honeymoon planning.
-- 67 percent of people wouldn't bypass the wedding reception to head
right to the honeymoon.
- Both men and woman answered equally.
-- An overwhelming number (70 percent) of brides and grooms still pay for
the honeymoon themselves, despite the recent changes in traditional
honeymoon financial roles (honeymoon registries, parental gifts, etc.)
- But, we learned that the honeymoons of newly married couples have
been affected by recent economic issues with nearly half (more than
44 percent) answering that "financial constraints" kept them from
doing everything they wanted to on their honeymoon.

Black Ladies, Black Beauties

The western nations have a monopoly of the media online and offline and they have been using their monopoly of the media to boost Western culture and to dictate the life styles of the rest of humanity and we have seen their monopoly of global commerce in most aspects of life.
Western fashion is often the first choice of other cultures in the world. Africans are the worst copycats of Western culture in haute couture, airs and graces and they have even gone as far as making sloppish parodies of Western shows and desperately trying to ape the American and Western European models and status symbols. We even use Western models to judge our native beauties at beauty pageants. The closer you are to the Caucasian the more likely you are to win a beauty pageant in AFRICA of all places!
The girls and women with dark skin often feel inferior to those with fair and light skin and resort to bleaching or the fancy word toning.
The fact that bleaching or toning is very common among dark-skinned Black girls and women is the proof of their inferiority complex in comparison to those who are fair and light skinned.
The Nokia FACE of AFRICA has given more exposure to dark-skinned beauties from Africa, but they are still using the Western model of the thin beauty to judge the African girls. We do not encourage our girls and women to starve themselves and look like straw figures. We love them healthy and plump. Any African beauty pageant without plumpy women is not the true representation of an African beauty.
I have always challenged the Western notions and stereotypes of beauty by reporting and writing on African beauties even in the state of nature, topless and proud.
See the awesome black and beautiful Shaundra Denise and tell me if she is not sexier than their so called Scarlett Johansson voted sexiest woman on Earth or Jessica Biel Sexiest Woman Alive.
Most of these so called sexiest white women in the world either have flat buttocks or flabby buttocks!
The Black woman is the most beautiful woman in the world and most artists and photographers in the world have acknowledged this fact.
My African Beauty blog was created for the celebration of the natural beauty of the Black woman in Africa and show her as the symbol of Black beauty in the world.
The following book on Black Ladies is a celebration of the Black woman and we need more of such books like a photo book of Nigerian Black beauties or African beauties.

AskMen Rates Rihanna A Plus in Sexiness and Success
I love the fully illustrated feature on the Barbadian singer Rihanna on AskMen.com. It is the most updated and has the latest and the best pictures of the sultry Black Beauty from Barbados. There are over 300 of the latest exquisite photographs of Rihanna and her summary in two paragraphs.
What I love most about Rihanna is her chocolate complexion!
She is the epitome of the Black Beauty.
SEXINESS
What's not to love about this island beauty? Her face is stunning, her eyes are entrancing and her complexion is exquisite. Her body is voluptuous, and her dance skills demonstrate how flexible and limber she can be. Rihanna was ranked No. 20 on AskMen.com's Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2007 and No. 8 in 2008. Slender but very trim, Rihanna's youth is reflected in a beauty that is still in that transition phase between girlishness and full-blown femininity. But her caffe latte complexion and pleasing features already lend her an aura of attractiveness, like a young Thandie Newton. The next few years will only see Rihanna's beauty ripen. Is Rihanna sexy? Do you even have to ask?

SUCCESS
Rihanna's sudden and meteoric rise made American Idol hopefuls look like seasoned crooners who had spent a decade on the road before hitting the big time. A native of the island of Barbados, Rihanna lived an average life and barely even dreamed of show business before she was discovered in late 2003.
Despite her total lack of professional singing experience, pretty young Rihanna was snapped up by Def Jam, and had a hit with her single "Pon de Replay" in 2005. She quickly followed this up with the release of her debut album, Music of the Sun. Rihanna wasted no time in putting out a second album, "A Girl Like Me," the following year, and her third album, "Good Girl Gone Bad," took listeners by storm in 2007 with a slew of hit singles including Umbrella and Don't Stop The Music.
Rihanna's instant success wasn't all luck, though. Her talent is undeniable, and her personality is determined yet appreciative. All it took was the perfect mix of circumstances, blended together like a good callaloo (one of Rihanna's favorite Caribbean dishes). How long will Rihanna be riding this wave of hits? If it means we get to keep seeing that beautiful face, then we hope forever.
Rihanna

(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080605/NYFNSA02 )
To relieve pain, traditional remedies involve strong anti-inflammatory drugs or muscle relaxers -- many of which have scores of side effects that pain sufferers desperate for relief simply must contend with. What's more, the majority of these medications are taken orally, so it can be anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour before pain relief is realized. But treatments using natural ingredients, such as Dr. Janet's Glucosamine Cream, can be equally or more effective than harsh medicines.
Going With Glucosamine
Glucosamine has long been used to ease joint pain and other ailments. Glucosamine is a compound found naturally in the body, made from glucose and the amino acid glutamine. Glucosamine contributes to the production of glycosaminoglycan, a molecule used in the formation and repair of cartilage and other body tissues.
The production of glucosamine slows down as a person ages. Supplementation with glucosamine is widely used for osteoarthritis conditions, helping to improve elasticity and movement in joints, hence reducing swelling, pain and loss of movement. Studies show that glucosamine can also help stimulate new cartilage growth in as little as 30 days.
Transdermal Delivery
Transdermal delivery, or where a medication is applied to the skin for direct relief, is one of the fastest ways to receive relief from pain. Dr. Janet's Glucosamine Cream is made from a special blend of ingredients that allows it to quickly penetrate the skin. That includes Emu oil, which has been used for thousands of years for its pain-relieving abilities that focus on working on the source of pain. The cream offers fast pain relief without a greasy feeling or unwanted odor, usually within 15 minutes.
Dr. Janet's is not one of those hot/cold menthol rubs in the first aid aisle of the pharmacy. It is specially formulated with ingredients that treat the source of pain, not simply cover it up for a few minutes. It is backed by the expertise of Dr. Janet Maccaro, who once experienced chronic pain and fatigue before finding the natural answer and developing this product.
To try Dr. Janet's Glucosamine risk free for 30 days, call 800-301-5123 and mention code VK81.
Tips to Remain Pain-Free
Stop pain before it starts by following these tips from Dr. Janet.
-- Support braces, wrist guards and other products designed to improve
ergonomics may help alleviate pain and prevent further deterioration.
-- Realize that pain can be a symptom of disease or another condition, not
just aging or physical exertion. If any pain seems out of the ordinary,
visit your doctor.
-- Physical activity can help to relieve pain when done in moderation.
Remaining sedentary can cause further stiffness and locking of joints
and muscles.
Therefore, strive to maintain a healthy weight through diet and exercise.

Shakespearean Sex for Two

Kisses & Roses Practical Sex Education for Shy Couple Series:
A woman reaches her testosterone peak in the third week of her
menstrual cycle. While she is the horniest at those times, she is
also the most fertile, so take precautions if you don't want to
get pregnant.
~ Michael Webb
N.B:
This post is for adults only.
This will recharge your sex drive.
You have to read A Modern Sexual Lexicon (CAC Edition) first and Sex is like cappuccino for the following session.
Make steaming cappuccino for the two of you and you are ready for your Shakespearean Sex.
Both of you must be totally naked with six pillows in bed or where you have chosen to lay.
As you are gazing at the daughter of Eve, begin to recite Shakespeare Sonnet 116 in-between sips of cappuccino and using your nimble fingers to trace the contours of her anatomy from head to toes.
Whether she understands the sonnet or not, move on to Shakespeare Sonnets 127 - 152.
This is for your foreplay and spend time to tickle her clitoris for as long as she wants you for multiple orgasms. She will moan and groan for more, but you must not rush like a Russian into her. Relax. Go gradually and steady on her.
This session should last for four hours full course sex.
This will help both of you to discover your most sensitive spots by exploration.
See the guide below.
Sex is good for your health when you enjoy sex with someone you love and not out of lust.Sonnet 127
In the old age black was not counted fair,
Or if it were, it bore not beauty's name;
But now is black beauty's successive heir,
And beauty slandered with a bastard shame:
For since each hand hath put on nature's power,
Fairing the foul with art's false borrow'd face,
Sweet beauty hath no name, no holy bower,
But is profaned, if not lives in disgrace.
Therefore my mistress' eyes are raven black,
Her eyes so suited, and they mourners seem
At such who, not born fair, no beauty lack,
Slandering creation with a false esteem:
Yet so they mourn, becoming of their woe,
That every tongue says beauty should look so.
Sonnet 142
Love is my sin and thy dear virtue hate,
Hate of my sin, grounded on sinful loving:
O, but with mine compare thou thine own state,
And thou shalt find it merits not reproving;
Or, if it do, not from those lips of thine,
That have profaned their scarlet ornaments
And seal'd false bonds of love as oft as mine,
Robb'd others' beds' revenues of their rents.
Be it lawful I love thee, as thou lovest those
Whom thine eyes woo as mine importune thee:
Root pity in thy heart, that when it grows
Thy pity may deserve to pitied be.
If thou dost seek to have what thou dost hide,
By self-example mayst thou be denied!
P.S:
From "Sonnets for the black lady"
The mysterious black lady was Shakespear's mistress. His relationship with her is almost exclusively described in a sexual context.
She was a femme fatale who was the inspiration for Shakespeare's most sensual sonnets.
The poet describes himself as middle-aged at the time of the affair.
Here are some ways to define sexual affairs.
Some become great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust...
Lucretio - having sex for money
Mercutio - really hot sex
Othello - sex which leaves you wanting more
Romeo - sex with a map and compass and
Right to Romeo - sex with a rambler
Erogenous Zones of the Female Body
Step 1: Face and hair
Step 2: Shouders, hands and arms
Step 3: Mouth, ears, neck, throat
Step 4: The armpit
Step 5: Fingers, toes and soles
Step 6: The back
Step 7: Abdomen and navel
Step 8: Breasts and nipples
Step 9: Buttocks
Step 10: The inner thighs
Step 11: The genital area
Lest we forget, having more than one sex partner can spell hell for the rest of your life.
Before you have sex with anyone, find out about the medical and sex history.
Of course, they will lie to cover up their careless and reckless sex life, but for your own good, beware of sleeping with playboys and playgirls, otherwise you are going to contract STDs.
If your partner has the problem of premature ejaculation or low sex drive, do not rush to order for all the advertised drugs, because the fact is, a simple recipe that will cost you less than $3 will boost your libido.
Regular sex is highly recommended for married couples, because having regular sex will boost your love for each other.

Celebrate Swedish Breaks Record Again; Helps Launch Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment
SEATTLE, June 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --
Generous sponsors and supporters raised approximately $4.3 million to support charity care and a special Fund-A-Need project at 'Celebrate Swedish 2008' on May 31 at The Sheraton Seattle Hotel. While pledges are still coming in, Swedish's annual gala dinner auction - now in its 23rd year - clearly topped last year's record of $3.4 million.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080604/DC24351 )
As a nonprofit organization and one of the top providers of charity care in the region, Swedish takes seriously its commitment to bringing expert care to community members who are unable to pay. In support of that commitment, all funds raised through sponsorship and auction sales will benefit charity-care services and other programs that help Swedish respond to community needs.
Lead by a $2 million donation by the David and Sandra Sabey family, $3.3 million of the auction's total is directed to the Fund-A-Need effort and will be used to launch the Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment at Swedish. The Center will give brain tumor patients and their families access to:
-- A multi-disciplinary team of skilled neurosurgeons, oncologists, radiologists and a specialized nursing staff to deliver coordinated care and innovative treatments.
-- An integrated care coordinator who will serve as a patient advocate and liaison.
-- Access to clinical trials that will offer patients early and timely access to investigational drugs and treatments.
-- Promising new therapies that use gene-sequencing technologies to identify customized treatment options.
-- A comprehensive brain tumor research laboratory that will provide rapid genetic analysis of brain tumors.
David Sabey is founder and CEO of Sabey Corp., which is a Seattle-based real-estate development and investment firm. He has been actively involved with the Swedish Neuroscience Institute since its inception several years ago. The Sabeys are long-time, generous Swedish supporters.

Do the vials glow-in-the-dark?
The test-tubes themselves don’t glow in the dark; rather the words on the vials do making his "Yours" and her "Mine" easier to find. The ingredients in the special inks that are used undergo a thorough safety assessment.

ABOUT GOD'S MASTER PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE:
It may not seem that way, especially when we stumble and fall. But we aren’t just accidents of nature that God took pity on. Although it may seem like we’re blindly making our way through this world, the truth is that God is guiding us all the way.
Gloria Copeland knows just how hard it is to come to terms with that idea. When she and her husband Kenneth were newlyweds in 1962 they had nothing—no money, no long-term plans, and most important: no God. But then Gloria was given a birthday card with a simple inscription: Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). Something within her shifted into place. She shared her thoughts with Ken who at the time was a nonbeliever. But soon the power of God began to work within him as well. For the first time, they began to connect with God’s Master Plan.
There’s no question that giving over to God—letting go and letting God’s rules take over—is no easy task. But in her trademark inspiring and empowering style, Gloria Copeland shows readers that living a Godly life is within every person’s reach, regardless of age, race, background, or circumstance. And when you live a Godly life, God’s Master Plan will become more than just a concept—it will become your destiny.
God had a plan for Adam and Eve. God had a plan for Abraham. God had a plan for Jesus. And God has a plan for every one of us.

The 2008 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade Will be Awarded to Anselm Kiefer

The 2008 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade Will be Awarded to Anselm Kiefer
FRANKFURT, Germany, June 4/PRNewswire/ --
The Board of Trustees of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade has chosen German artist Anselm Kiefer to be the recipient of this year's Peace Prize. The award ceremony will take place during the Frankfurt Book Fair on Sunday, October 19, 2008 in the Church of St. Paul in Frankfurt, Germany.
The Board of Trustees issued the following statement with regard to their choice: "The German Publishers' and Booksellers' Association has chosen to award the 2008 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade to Anselm Kiefer. In so doing, the association and its members have chosen to honor an artist of global importance who has consistently sought to confront us with a disturbing moral message of that which is ruinous and volatile. Kiefer appeared at an ideal moment in history to transcend the post-war dictate of non-committal and non-concrete representation. In many ways, Kiefer acted like an ingenious and conscious conqueror, seizing upon the means of an expressive, texture-rich form of painting and transferring these means - much like the spoils of war - to his own world of images. At the very center of his work stands an artistic present that is eroded and shattered, one that is presented with speechlessness and an extremely short-tongued rhetoric. The incredibly strong resonance that Kiefer's work has received results from his ability to create a visual vocabulary for both timeless and acute themes and thereby simultaneously transform the viewer into a reader. The extent to which Kiefer deals with literature and poetry is demonstrated not only by his installations, which constantly allude to great works. Kiefer also made the book itself - the book as a form - into a decisive vehicle of expression. His monumental lead works appear as shields against a defeatism that dares to deny a future to books and reading."
The Peace Prize has been awarded since 1950 and is endowed with a sum of EUR 25,000. Previous recipients include Orhan Pamuk, Susan Sonntag, Jurgen Habermas, and Mario Vargas Llosa.

Aphrodisiac Vodka - Love Hurts, British Inventor Reveals the Scientific Reasons O2 SPARKLING VODKA's Bubbles Will Arouse Your Passions

Aphrodisiac Vodka - Love Hurts, British Inventor Reveals the Scientific Reasons O2 SPARKLING VODKA's Bubbles Will Arouse Your Passions
LONDON, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Philip Maitland, the British inventor of patented O2 Sparkling Vodka, attributes the inspiration for his invention to learning about the research work in 1998 and 1999 of Neurobiology Professor Earl Carstens and his colleagues at the University of California at Davis on fizzy drinks.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080604/NYWFNS2 )
Professor Carstens discovered that when a sparkling drink is consumed, a chemical reaction occurs in the mouth resulting from the carbon dioxide in the bubbles. This further causes a mild pain reaction that sends signals to the brain and triggers the release of endorphins. (New Scientist, 19/26 December 1998 p. 5 and The Journal of Neuroscience, 15 September 1999, p. 8134)
Maitland's idea was to incorporate this pleasurable -- so good it hurts -- sensation in a world-class premium vodka.
"Making the vodka sparkling would set up a chain reaction leading to the release of endorphins, which make people feel good," says Maitland. "Too many bubbles and the vodka would be very harsh and unpleasant to drink, so the level of carbonation had to be carefully calibrated."
It took over two years to perfect the method to infuse the right volume and size of bubbles into the vodka which was granted a patent in 2003. (http://www.sparklingvodka.com/)
Shortly after O2 launched in Europe in 2002, the company received numerous emails from customers. They stated how much they had enjoyed the vodka and unexpectedly how they had felt very sensual and passionate afterwards.
"At first we didn't pay too much attention to the emails, but they soon grew in frequency, becoming a phenomena," explains Maitland.
As O2 is batch distilled to a special formulation of Wheat and Malted Barley, it was apparent that the vodka had developed some unique qualities in production which were enhanced by the bubbles.
"The resulting stimulation and excitement of O2 creates an electrifying arousal of the senses. It's not for the faint hearted," says Maitland.
O2 is available in Premium 80 proof, triple distilled and Super Premium 945, 94 proof and five times distilled in fine crystal glass bottles with a bespoke twist closure and is currently rolling out across the U.S.

Last night, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) paid tribute to the winners and honorees of the 2008 CFDA Fashion Awards in the Celeste Bartos Forum of The New York Public Library followed by dinner at the Bryant Park Grill. Top honors went to Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein for Womenswear Designer of the Year. Tom Ford won Menswear Designer of the Year and Tory Burch took home Accessory Designer of the Year.
The Swarovski Award for Womenswear was given to Kate & Laura Mulleavy for Rodarte while the Swarovski Award for Menswear was presented to Scott Sternberg for Band of Outsiders. The Swarovski Award for Accessory Design went to Phillip Crangi. The Awards were generously underwritten by Swarovski. Recipients in each category will receive generous financial support from the company as well as exposure to the company's vast and innovative CRYSTALLIZED(tm) Swarovski Elements.
The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Carolina Herrera.
Belgian designer Dries Van Noten was recognized with this year's International Award; Style.com's Candy Pratts Price was honored with the Eugenia Sheppard Award for excellence in journalism; and the Board of Directors' Special Tribute was presented to Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg for his unwavering support of New York City's fashion industry.
The presentation was hosted by Fran Lebowitz. Also lending their talents to this year's presentation were Simon Doonan, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Nadja Swarovski, Anna Wintour, Victoria Beckham, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Eva Mendes, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Kim Catrall. Some of the most influential names in American fashion design, like CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Betsey Johnson, Donna Karan, Zac Posen, Peter Som and Vera Wang were joined by celebrity guests Eva Longoria Parker, Tony Parker, Jason Lewis, Paula Patton, Ashley Olsen, Lauren Hutton, Sean Avery, and Lil' Kim.
As part of the CFDA's commitment to design education, the Geoffrey Beene Design Scholar Ghazaleh M. Khalifeh and the CFDA/Teen Vogue scholarship recipient Anna Lesassier were recognized on-stage with the first-ever CFDA Scholarship winner Peter Som.
Of the ceremony, CFDA Executive Director Steven Kolb said, "This night is special not only because we celebrate the best of American fashion, but because we come together as an industry and a community to do so. We are thrilled that this year's format enabled us to accommodate a greater number of guests in the celebration. I can think of no better spotlight for American fashion as a dynamic, growing institution with a rich history than the CFDA Fashion Awards."
"This evening has become such a treasured occasion for Swarovski. We couldn't be more thrilled for all the tremendously talented honorees and winners," said Nadja Swarovski, Vice President of International Communications. "There is certainly a continued bright future for American fashion design with this year's awards being any indication. We are delighted to have the opportunity to be such an influence in the landscape of these talented, young stars who have captured the honor of the Swarovski Awards."
For the third year in a row, the celebration incorporated a Viewing Party. "Upstairs at the Library Hosted T-Mobile Sidekick" was a lounge-like space from which a larger group of fashion designers, editors and other industry supporters watched a live simulcast of the awards. Notable guests included Lauren Santo Domingo, Jeff Halmos, Sam Shipley, David Neville, Marcus Wainright, and Gucci Westman.
For the first time ever, the CFDA Fashion Awards included a live simulcast especially for design students. Thanks to the generous support of Target and in cooperation with the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T), 700 college students watched the show live from F.I.T.'s Haft Auditorium.
The decor of the dinner and awards was inspired by the garden and the beauty of spring that designer Raul Avila brought to life for the Awards. Bryant Park served as the perfect springtime backdrop for two pieces from the Swarovski Crystal Palace Collection: "Cascade," a well-known piece by artist Vincent Van Duysen, and ten "Blossom" chandeliers by designer Tord Boontje.
KCD produced the event, and the journal and graphics were designed by Trey Laird of Laird + Partners.
Nominees, honorees, and winners were determined by a Selection Committee comprised of CFDA members, leading fashion journalists, stylist and top retail executives. Ernst & Young LLP was the official accounting firm of the Awards.
Additionally, the CFDA would like to acknowledge the companies that added to the success of this year's event: Continental Airlines -- official airline; Champagne Taittinger; FIJI; website designer: Hudson Union; Bernard's Salon and Spa, L'Oreal Professionnel, and MAC Pro Team and MAC Cosmetics, W Hotels Worldwide, Mandarin Oriental, New York.

Linkin Park Adds Busta Rhymes to 2008 Summer Tour
ACCLAIMED HIP HOP INNOVATOR WILL PERFORM WITH LINKIN PARK, CHRIS CORNELL, THE BRAVERY, ASHES DIVIDE ON PROJEKT REVOLUTION MAIN STAGE
REVOLUTION STAGE HEADLINED BY ATREYU AND FEATURING 10 YEARS, HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS, ARMOR FOR SLEEP & STREET DRUM CORPS
TOUR BEGINS JULY 16 IN BOSTON
LOS ANGELES, June 3 /PRNewswire/ --
Multi-platinum two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park has announced that acclaimed hip-hop innovator Busta Rhymes will join their Projekt Revolution 2008 lineup. Rhymes and Linkin Park recently collaborated on "We Made It," the first single and video from Rhymes' upcoming album, Blessed. By touring together, Linkin Park & Busta are taking a cue from the chorus of their song: " ... we took it on the road ... ".
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070220/LATU096LOGO)
As recently pointed out in Rolling Stone's "Summer Tour Guide," the tour will see nine acts joining rock superstars Linkin Park, who are also offering concertgoers a digital souvenir pack that includes a recording of the band's entire set. As the band's co-lead vocalist Mike Shinoda told the magazine, "That puts extra pressure on us to make sure our set is different every night."
The fifth installation of Linkin Park's raging road show will see them headlining an all-star bill that features former Soundgarden/Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell, electro-rockers The Bravery and Ashes Divide featuring Billy Howerdel, known for his work with A Perfect Circle. The Revolution stage will be headlined by metallic act Atreyu and features hard hitters 10 Years, fiery Ohio natives Hawthorne Heights and buzz band Armor For Sleep. Also performing will be percussive force Street Drum Corps. The tour launches July 16 at the Tweeter Center in Boston.
Fans can go to http://www.linkinpark.com/, http://www.projektrevolution.com/ or http://www.livenation.com/ for show dates and on-sale information in each area.
Produced by Live Nation and partnered with Major League Baseball, Monster Energy Drink, Verizon Wireless and Nowwhat.com, Projekt Revolution 2008 sees Linkin Park building upon the success and excitement of previous Revolution tours, which included artists such as My Chemical Romance, Korn, Snoop Dogg, HIM, Xzibit and Mudvayne, among others.
"We started Projekt Revolution six years ago and have been lucky to have toured with some great bands," says Linkin Park co-frontman Chester Bennington. "This year, however, might just be the best lineup yet. We're looking forward to taking this show on the road and bringing great music to the masses."
Last month Linkin Park took a break from their headlining tour in support of new album MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT and traveled to New Orleans to help families displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The band joined volunteers from Music for Relief, and Habitat homeowner families from New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity to build homes in the damaged Gulf Coast area. Prior to that, Linkin Park's nonprofit organization, Music For Relief, initiated a partnership with Hollywood for Habitat For Humanity to fund and build homes in hurricane ravaged areas. Additionally, Linkin Park recently donated $1 from each ticket sold on their European & UK, U.S. & Canadian headlining dates to Music for Relief for a tree-planting initiative.
With Projekt Revolution 2008, Linkin Park continues to give back, as $1 from every ticket sold will go toward Music for Relief to support disaster relief and reduce global warming. In just over a year Music For Relief has raised over $1 million for reforestation, planting over 797,000 trees. Music For Relief endeavors to help victims recover and rebuild following natural disasters but also works to reduce global warming. During Projekt Revolution 2008, Music for Relief will continue its grassroots outreach to fans to educate them on how to reduce their own carbon emissions and how those changes can have a global effect.
About the Main Stage Artists
Linkin Park
Linkin Park (Bennington, drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn, bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell and vocalist Mike Shinoda) is touring in support of double-platinum-selling album MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT and new top ten hit single "Given Up." The album, one of the highest-debuting discs of 2007 and the seventh best-selling album of the year, has already spawned three additional top ten hits ("Bleed It Out," "What's I've Done," "Shadow of the Day"), amplifying an already illustrious career. Since arriving in 2000, Linkin Park has won two Grammy Awards (Best Hard Rock Performance in 2002 with their hit single "Crawling" and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Jay-Z in 2006 for the innovative "Numb/Encore"), sold more than 45 million albums worldwide (their Diamond-Certified debut Hybrid Theory has sold more than 18 million copies alone), and garnered an international fanbase whose members number in the millions. According to the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), Linkin Park was 2007's best-selling rock band, with MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT moving 4.8 million units worldwide.

Chris Cornell
Ranked 12th in MTV's "22 Greatest Voices in Music" survey, ahead of such icons as David Bowie, Steven Tyler and Bruce Springsteen, Chris Cornell has been called "the single most dynamic rock and roll force produced by the Grunge Revolution of the early 90s." As the frontman for Soundgarden, he marshaled five studio albums including the groundbreaking Superunknown, which went multi-platinum and earned two Grammy Awards. His songwriting continued to develop with the critically acclaimed side project, Temple of the Dog, a collective of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden members who formed in tribute to late Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood. During his tenure as frontman for the rock supergroup Audioslave, he continued his multi-platinum success and produced hit singles "Like a Stone," "Cochise" and "Be Yourself." Cornell's songs have been featured on film soundtracks including Pump Up the Volume, Wayne's World, True Romance, Feeling Minnesota (a title taken from one of Cornell's own Soundgarden lyrics), Singles, Great Expectations, Mission: Impossible II, Collateral and BUG. Cornell's second solo album, CARRY ON (Suretone/Interscope), marks his 13th studio album and was released in June 2007. Carry On includes the 2008 Grammy nominated "You Know My Name," the theme song from the last James Bond installment, Casino Royale (Columbia Pictures). Cornell was honored to be the first American male in history to create a theme song for the classic James Bond film franchise. Cornell is currently in the studio with super-producer Timbaland working on his third solo album. In addition to his work in the music world, Chris Cornell served as the face of the 2006 John Varvatos ad campaign and became a restaurateur with the opening of Black Calavados (BC) in Paris, where he lives with his wife Vicky and two young children.

Busta Rhymes
Busta's previous album, 2006's The Big Bang, his first for Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, became the first #1 Pop album of his career, and fourth #1 R&B/Hip-hop album. Spinning off the Top 20 Pop hit "Touch It," The Big Bang claimed the top spot in its first week and went gold. The album followed his gold It Ain't Safe No More. The Brooklyn-born, Long Island-raised Busta Rhymes (named by Chuck D of Public Enemy) launched his solo career in 1996 with the platinum #1 R&B/Hip-hop The Coming and its Top 10 platinum "Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check." Called "the most idiosyncratic personality in rap and possessor of its most recognizable delivery, a halting, ragga-inspired style with incredible complexity, inventiveness, and humor" (All Music Guide), Rhymes followed with three more platinum albums: When Disaster Strikes (#1 R&B/Hip-hop), Extinction Level Event (The Final World Front) (#2 R&B/Hip-hop), Anarchy (#1 R&B/Hip-hop) and Genesis (#2 R&B/Hip-hop), and their gold Top 10 Pop hits "Dangerous," "Turn It Up" and "What's It Gonna Be." His highly anticipated new album, BLESSED, arrives in stores June 17.

Disc two (THE MOON) is the album reimagined/reworked by the New York-based Bravery, who were recently named Artist of the Week on MTV's 52/52. The album features Top 10 Modern Rock hit "Believe," whose video was recently added to MTV, MTV2, VH1 and Fuse, following its premiere on Yahoo! "Believe" has been featured on a plethora of television shows, including "The Hills," "Friday Night Lights," "Grey's Anatomy," "Gossip Girl," "Moonlight," "Las Vegas," "Rescue Me" and "Reaper." ASHES dIVIDE
ASHES dIVIDE is the new band formed by lead guitarist/singer-songwriter Billy Howerdel -- founder/producer of multi-platinum group A Perfect Circle, the band he led with Tool frontman Maynard Keenan through three albums (two platinum and one gold). Three weeks before the April 8th release of Howerdel's long-awaited first solo project, KEEP TELLING MYSELF IT'S ALRIGHT, lead single "The Stone" was the No. 1 Most Streamed Song at both the Alternative and Rock formats of Clear Channel Online New and its video has been added at both Fuse and MTV2. In a recent Entertainment Weekly poll of film and television music producers, Dana Sano (Dan In Real Life) praised ASHES dIVIDE for sounding " ... so very dreamy rock with a '90s feel." Howerdel produced and engineered the new album in Los Angeles, playing guitar, bass and keyboard. Longtime collaborator Danny Lohner (APC, Nine Inch Nails) helped out with the recording process, while drummer Josh Freese (APC) appears on the album. Other contributors include Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde), Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio), and Paz Lenchantin. Innovative Brit producer Alan Moulder, known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, My Bloody Valentine and the Killers, mixed the album in London.

About Revolution Stage Artists
Atreyu
The Orange County, CA-based hard rockers are touring in support of LEAD SAILS PAPER ANCHOR, which debuted at No. 8 on Billboard's Top 200, making it both the highest debut and highest-charting album of the band's career. It follows 2006's A Death-Grip On Yesterday, which entered the chart at No. 9. The album, produced by John Feldmann (The Used, Good Charlotte) and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Slipknot, Linkin Park), drew rave reviews from around the world, including Metal Hammer, who declared it to be "a truly landmark album." Kerrang! gave the record 4 K's and Blender gave it 3 1/2 stars and called it "metal that takes you to a magical bygone era." Revolver awarded the album 4 stars and praised it for flowing "beautifully through the speakers" and for being "a coffin-tight collection of singles." Since the album's release, the band shared stages alongside Korn and Evanescence on the Family Values Tour and blazed a headlining run of their own. They're currently co-headlining the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour with Avenged Sevenfold. Their new hit single, "Falling Down," is currently No. 3 on Billboard's Alternative Rock Chart.

10 YEARS
10 Years recently put the finishing touches on new album DIVISION, readying it for a nationwide in-store release on May 13th. DIVISION was helmed by acclaimed producer Rick Parasher (Pearl Jam, Nickelback, Soundgarden, Rob Zombie). Recorded during what the band has described as "an intense creative process" this past summer, songs on DIVISION include "Just Can't Win," "In Your Eyes," "Day Dreamer," and the band's latest radio hit, "Beautiful." 10 Years came to the attention of the rock world with 2005's Autumn Effect which unleashed one of 2005-2006's biggest rock radio hits with the mythic single "Wasteland." The iconic song not only set career highs for the band when it was certified gold, it reigned on US rock charts for more than a year, notching the #4 year-end spot on the Active rock chart, and eventually pulled off a hat-trick of #1 slots at Active rock, Alternative rock and Billboard's Modern rock chart. The album also spawned a second hit single for the band, "Through The Iris."

Hawthorne Heights
Hawthorne Heights (vocalist/guitarist JT Woodruff, drummer Eron Bucciarelli, guitarist Micah Carli and bassist Matt Ridenour) will be supporting the follow-up album to 2006's gold-selling IF ONLY YOU WERE LONELY, which is slated for release early summer '08. Hawthorne Heights broke onto the scene in 2004, selling a staggering one million copies of their debut release The Silence In Black And White, which featured cult hits "Ohio Is For Lovers" and "Niki FM." Since that time the band has toured relentlessly, developing a rabid fanbase and selling nearly 2 million albums worldwide. Projekt Revolution marks the bands triumphant return after a tumultuous year of setbacks and great personal loss.

Armor For Sleep
The New Jersey-based post-hardcore quartet has been busy promoting their recent release SMILE FOR THEM, a compelling third addition to their ever-evolving catalogue of music. The band formed in the suburban utopia of northern NJ in 2002, catalyzed by singer/guitarist Ben Jorgensen's songwriting and desire to form a band centered around it. The release of the group's debut, Dream To Make Believe, in 2003 on independent label Equal Vision Records, thrust them on tour where receptive listeners were attracted to the genuine, personable sensibility of the band and their music. But 2005's critically acclaimed concept-based follow-up, What To Do When You Are Dead, set them far apart from the other bands swimming in the deep sea of emo bands, and put them distinctly on the top of the bubbling genre. Selling over 220,000 records to date, the album solidified the bond between band and fan, and eventually piqued the interest of Sire Records who signed them in 2006. Having played shows with the likes of Against Me!, Taking Back Sunday, All-American Rejects and Underoath, the band is ready to join this year's Projekt Revolution.

A Father's Love
A Father's Love
by Filoiann Wiedenhoff
In the United States Father's Day is June 15, 2008. I understand in New Zealand Father's Day is in September but I hope you don't mind if I celebrate our Father's Day with all of you.
My father was a first sergeant in the Marine Corp who served in the Vietnam War and came home with wounds and purple hearts to show for it. I was born during that time in November of 1967 and remember seeing him for the first time when I was about five years old.
He was there a few days after I was born but had to return back to Vietnam shortly after, so I never saw him before that day, at least not that I can remember and didn't know him but that didn't matter to me.
I still remember the day he came home from the war, my mother, brothers and I were standing right outside, where the planes landed waiting anxiously for him to walk out of the plane.
Suddenly, a handsome young man dressed in a beige marine uniform with medals swarming the side of his chest and wearing a sharp hat to match, started walking toward us. I still remember my mother bending down beside me and whispered in my ear saying, "That's your father" and without any hesitation I remember running up to him as fast as I could, opened up my arms and jumped right into his chest. He caught me in the air, hugged me tight and swung me around laughing with the biggest smile I ever saw.
At that moment in time it didn't matter that I didn't know him, all I knew was that He was my father and that I loved Him and he obviously loved me back. It was the beginning of new relationship and I couldn't wait to get started.
Our relationship never changed from that day. I was daddy's little girl and only girl so I can honestly say I was indeed spoiled and my three brothers, Jaffa, John and James can all testify to that fact, but they were okay with it; being that I was a "girl" and all.
There's something special about a father's love that makes you feel secure, protected and grounded in who you are. Perhaps it's because of their strong stature, their demeanor or the fact that you know that they go to work day in and day out to support their family whether they feel like it or not. It's not a conscious thought on our part it's just a sense of comfort and security that they are there.
There's a quote by Billy Graham, a well known Christian Evangelist who said, "A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society."
I agree with Billy Graham, father's do so much, they mean so much and are valuable in our society but are not given the praise and appreciation they deserve. I pray that this father's day you would honor your fathers, husbands, brothers and any men you know that are in that important role and bless them with your words of affirmation, your actions and your love for all they do and don't forget that you have a heavenly father who loves you and is right there with you.
I would like to make a special dedication to my father, David Jaffa Solomon, my husband Daniel Wiedenhoff and my Heavenly Father.
My father is now in heaven but I know that I will see Him again. I just want to say, "Dad, I salute you with all my heart and I'm so proud of you. Thank you for loving me, my family and my country. I love you and I will see you again!"
To my husband Dan, Thank you for being a wonderful father, for all that you do, your hard work, labor of love and commitment to taking care of your family, even when you are tired, weary or don't feel like it. No matter how you feel you still get up and go to work every day to provide for us. We love you, appreciate you and thank you for all that you do!
To my God and Heavenly Father, thank you for sacrificing your only Son to give us eternal life. Your unconditional love that never fails, your consistent caring for us and that you never leave us nor forsake us. There is nothing in this world I could give to say thank you for all that you have done for us and are still doing except to say that my prayer is that we could show you our appreciation by living a life that honors you and glorifies your name. Thank you so much and we love you!
To all you father's, "Happy Father's Day!" May you be blessed this day with peace, love and many blessings. We honor you and we appreciate you for all you do!
